How 'bout Dirk?

Post#1 » by JES12 » Thu Feb 7, 2008 4:23 am

I was going to post this even before he got his triple double, but that just makes it all the better.

In his last 10 games, Dirk is averaging:

23.4 PPG
10.0 RPG
5.0 APG
1.4 BPG

46.6% shooting even with that 3/18 performance in Detroit.

He has been playing better in the post and much better defense this year to go with his better passing. How is he doing it? He doesn't even know!

That was a very efficient 29 points. 17 shots. Only 2 turnovers. I may be even more impressed with Barea, with his 13 pts and his +24 in a close game. HAs barea rendered Terry tradable yet?

If we get a good shooting swing player a la Miller.

no because JJB is not an outside scoring threat like Terry and you'd have to get one in return in the trade...

I think that would be the point of trading Terry for a guy like Miller. Although Miller isn't the best defender in the world, he does have good size for SG/SF and does play aggressive.

I agree that we would need a decent shooter in return.

The other thing to consider is that Barea may have increased his value as a trade piece. We might be able to land a guy like Miller without even giving up Terry. I'm not so sure that getting Kidd without giving up core players will be difficult.

Barea is an expiring contract and no team would have Bird rights. Dallas has "early Bird" rights, but we don't even ahve Bird right to trade him with.

Other teams would value him like a throw-in filler and a small one at that.

Terry for Miller (Dallas in/out) would be the best scenario.

I'd rather have Maggette, but I'd be fine with Miller. This team needs a tweak, and the easiest and most effective tweak is fixing our starting SG.

^^^ I agree.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...
