Imagine if Navarro came over in a trade with Gasol.

Horrid. Yes, what we need is another under-sized 2 guard. Even better, Juan Dixon can back up Navarro!

Its pretty rare to get a deal like the Lakers got. You have to have the right situation - and the right situation doesn't come up too often.

In this case, you had an owner trying to sell and looking to unload a big salary without taking anything back. That, in itself, is hard to find. But you also have to find them at precisely the moment that you have exactly what they need.

So I think its certainly possible for the Raps to get a marquee name next year - I just rather doubt that it will happen like that.

also keep something else in mind - the Portland Trail Blazers have almost $30 million in expiring salaries next year - Steve Francis and Raef LaFrentz. Now they are probably going to want to hold on to some of that, since in the following two years, they have to sign Jack, Frye, Roy, Webster, and Aldridge.

Very true Hank... I think the only thing that might save us is that there is a good chance that they won't need to make that trade to become elite. The addition of Oden, and the continued development of Roy, Aldridge and Outlaw (heck, even Frye and Jack) might be enough to move them amongst the elite next season. That team's future is SCARY.

Anyone know if they have their pick this season or did that go in the NY deal?
