What does everyone think are we going to stand Pat or are we going to get someone? What postion do you think we need to upgrade. I would like to go get Gerald Green just to get him ready for next year but that is just me.

He has been on 2 last place teams his entire career. Put him on a winning team with his idol (Tracy McGrady) as his mentor in his hometown of Houston and you might see some fire in him.
if not, then he's hopeless..
He still has the potential to be a monster though. I think he could be had with a very low risk, high reward transaction. I'm all for getting some athleticism on this team though. You can really tell what a difference it makes every time Landry dunks and brings some energy to our games.

Out last two low risk, high reward transactions have been Bonzi and Francis. How well have those really worked out for us? Granted, they haven't ruined our team or killed our cap space, but we're not really getting a whole helluva lot from them.
Just like dream 34 said, if he can't get time in Boston last year and Minny this year... how would he get playing time in front of Bonzi/Luther, or Tracy/Battier? He's got the talent, but not the willpower. We need to be in win-NOW mode, with Tracy and Yao in their primes.

look around the NBA now
most team can put 5 players on the floor who can score all by themselve
i see that as our biggest weakness
we are doing it better now with Hayes spending most of his time on the bench
with Yao unable to get the ball when people fronting him is tough
i know he's doing better now
but can he keep moving in a 7 games series?

Geez man, read the Battier thread. We've beaten the Miller trade scenario to death the last few days. It would be an awesome trade, yes, but is very unlikely to be workable.

Gerald Green would be a welcomed addition. First of all he is young has good size and he would flourish in Houston. All the Talk of he cant get playing time in Minnesota is because at the very begining of the year they insulted him by not picking up his option. Would 'nt you be pissed if someone traded for you then they don't pick up your option up. So he is not a happy camper(aka Bonzi) last year.

Yes, I'd be pissed, but I'd set out to prove myself, on the court, not sit around and mope about it. If he'd stop doing that, he might get on the court, and get the ability to prove himself. That's why some players play better in a contract year; our own Mr Bonzi Wells being a significant example.
Also, if he sucks in MN because he doesn't get playing time, why did he suck in Boston before that?

Not only that, but if that's all it takes to get him to suck more than he does and not put in any effort, why would we want him anyway? Guys like that are cancer. For some examples, Darius Miles, Stromile Swift. No one that signs them can get rid of them fast enough, even though the exact same thing you just said has always been said.
New Team, "He just needs the right environment."
Old Team, "We're warning you, he sucks, er, we mean he's great, wanna trade?"
New Team, "Signed!"
New Team, 2 weeks later, "Oh geez are we ever idiots."
But they're great athletes they have such potential!!
Afraid not.
Did anyone else ever think it was funny which players they picked for the basketball team in Van Wilder? Hey look everybody, it's the NBA All-time Underachieving Benchriders All Star Squad!
I thought it was even funnier when they actually managed to beat a college team.

In Boston Green was behind some stiff named Paul Pierce. In Minn he's behind 3 guys the GM drafted. So there is some excuse for him,but...he has a nice 3pt shot but hasn't shown any committment to D or even to learning an offense.
He's a prime example of how F***'d up the NBA is at developing young talent. Considering a team is investing millions in young draft picks, wouldn't it make sense to hire a former player to be his full time tutor. The Lakers finally let Kareem have a summer w/Bynum and look at his developement over 1 summer.
On the general subject,I'd rather have Green and his shot over Snyder anytime. I would love to see Houston acquire Mike Miller,as he'd be perfect in Adelman's system. I wish the Rockets had signed a Skinner or Foyle over the summer. I still think they need a mobile,rebounding,shot-blocking big. They need a vet PG to give Alston a rest and to settle team down when other team makes a run.
But to get what I think the Rockets need requires assets the Rockets don't appear to have-or should give up at this time. This summer,a whole 'nother matter.

I agree that Green is probably an upgrade over Snyder (or Synder as he's more commonly known), but that's not exactly a hard thing to be. I'd like to see a taller 3p shooter on our team as well, but I don't think Green is the answer there. It's possible he's better than Head too, but again - not that hard. Also, his 2p% is beyond horrible. He's 29/95 for 30.5% this season. I don't know what 3 guys he's behind, but I don't think that a GM is going to say "well I drafted this guy, and traded for this guy, and the guy I traded for is better than the ones I drafted, but if I have the coach play the ones I picked, I'll look better" Possible I guess, just doesn't seem realistic. Something else is going on there.
Skinner or Foyle would cause the same outcries that Chuck Hayes gets - NO OFFENSE AAH! They would also either cut into Scola/Landry/Hayes's minutes at PF, or backup C minutes with Scola - and in either case I'd prefer one of those guys out there. Scola may not block shots, but there's more to defense than just shot blocking.
