chad ford chat today

Post#1 » by bballrocks32 » Thu Feb 7, 2008 7:09 pm

Ryan (Denver): what will denver do?

SportsNation Chad Ford: (1:25 PM ET ) They're trying to get Ron Artest ... the Kings don't want Nene or Kenyon Martin in return. I think they should offer the expiring contracts of J.R. Smith, Edurdo Najera and a first round pick. Artest is back to his regular form and could really help that team.

thats what he said to me today sounds good to me.

oh baby! j.r.+kleiza (and a 1st round pick) for artest! that's exactly what i wanted :o jesus!

ai/artest/melo/martin/camby
bench: kleiza, hunter, carter, khouba, (chucky, nene) <- injured

sounds pretty good to me. we are able to contend and play in a higher class

We cloned Linas?? :o

If Artest comes we get a perimeter defender that's got some offensive game, Khouba is far from having any offense.

as much as I love having eddie on this team and as much as I like jr's talent....i'll drive both of them mothasuckas to sac town myself!

ai/ron ron/melo/k-mart/tree
bench
ac/kuba/keliza/nene/hunter
(now of course kuba won't see much playing time due to having players that can play multipule positions...same for hunter,10 to 15 mins should be the max unless they're giving somebody the business)

for eddie jr and a pick should we ask for beno(sp)?being that eddie and jr are both good players.

if keliza is involved we should ask for garcia or douby in return!

I wasn't really into getting Ron Artest but if stops me from being subject to A.Carter for 30+ minutes a night I say do it.

I like it. JR + Najera for Artest. I really don't think Sac can do much better than that given that Ron is opting out anyway.

This would make a starting lineup of......

1. AI
2. Artest
3. Melo
4. Kenyon
5. Camby

Bench......

1. Carter
2. Diawara
3. Kleiza
4. Nene
5. Hunter

Man, the 2 and 4 would be locked down once Nene comes back

The 2 would be Artest and Diawara instead of AI and JR. HUGE difference defensive wise!!

He doesn't need to be playing 30 a night with or without Artest being here. When other teams have position situations like the one we have. They substitute in and out and try to find a hot hand between 2 or 3 guys. Carter, Smith, Yak, Wafer, heck split the minutes up already. Why have a young player like Wafer on the team if all he is ever going to get to do is be a spectator, cut him loose and let him go play somewhere.

I like the Eddy/JR trade for Artest but it still leaves us with a big weakness at PG. Artest makes us a great team, but were not gonna win a championship with AI and Anthony Carter running the point.

The only chance of winning it this year is really to prolly get Cassell and Artest which would take some genious GMing to get both without giving up our bench (Even though Karl doesnt use it effectively anyway).

Giving up that first round pick would hurt us a lot in our search for an actual PG. Unless we could get lucky and steal Tyreese Rice in the 2nd.

But DJ Augustin will more than likely be around in the mid-late first round, and he's a guy that would fill our need at PG almost perfectly

The perfect fit for us would be Ty Lawson but he prolly wont be around when we have to pick, unless we trade up (Always a good possibilty that the Nuggets arent afraid to do).

Basically lol I kinda think we need to stand pat and focus on this draft cuz theirs some great talent at PG this year. That or go all out and get both Cassell and Ron, if Cassell does get a buy out on his contract that would help us a lot more

But neither player helps the Kings in the least. Think about it: the Kings' strength right now is (BY FAR) their wing players. Martin, Garcia, & Salmons (not including Artest obviously). Smith isn't going to take away time from Martin and Garcia & Salmons have both outplayed Smith so far this year.

It just doesn't make sense for the Kings to move Artest for an expiring and a young player that plays their best stocked positions.

I think this team is one Kleiza clone away from winning the West.

Wouldn't it make more sense to offer LK and Eddie instead of JR and Eddie??

Think about it.

The Kings basically get no one to replace Artest at the 3.

Who will play the 2 role for the Nuggets?? AI and Artest who will also be playing a lot of minutes at the other multiple positions as well (AI at the 1, Artest at the 2,3,4). I think keeping JR and sending LK instead would benefit both teams.

kleiza can play the 2,3 and and a bit 4 (what makes him more interesting) ... j.r. "can" play the 1,2 and 3.

the 4 is a better option because j.r. wont see time if we get artest, at the 1. a.i would play the point. jr for 6 mpg? kleiza can come in for artest (2) who doesnt play 40 minutes a game because...

Ok, gotta say, Kleiza disappears at the strangest times. At the end of the Jazz game he had a couple opportunities to drive and kick or just drive and shoot or something and he kept dumping it back off to the guy that was getting him the ball.

JR is almost a polar opposite.....he will do something with the ball if you give him the rope, he will use it, and he will try, albeit not always successfully.

All that said, Kleiza is still currently the more versatile of the two, but at least when JR disappears he's on the bench and someone else can play.

I've gotten around to thinking Artest would greatly improve this team. Imagine, for example, how the Portland game would have turned out if we had Artest to guard Roy. Would've won that game by 10 points or more in regulation.

And how about likely playoff matchups--wouldn't you like to see him guarding Kobe or Manu or Derron Williams or Chris Paul, or whatever other deadly perimeter player we face?

I doubt Artest is quick enough to guard dwil or cp3, even as gifted a defender as he is...

CP3 gets around Artest, then Camby will block his ass.

Seriously... with Artest locking you down, when u beat him, u will face the hand of Camby.

If Artest was going to be traded from my Kings, I would like to see him on the Nuggets. They would definately be a fun team to watch.
