Wouldn't it be justice for the Spurs system if they do win another championship with all the other teams indulging in big acquisitions and even bigger transactions?

Not a Spurs fan (their style) by all means, but all the San Antonio supporters will be doubly satisfied if its again Spurs vs. Whoever in the Finals.

While trading for a big upgrade over Elson would make the most sense, Artest would also of course be a compelling scenario.

it's not nba2K8 ... (well with phoenix you have to wonder). The Spurs have only 2 weakness. A better PF/C (preferably C) to go with TD and Michael Finley. I doubt they can fix both, they could still fix one too. But they certaintly can't trade Both Barry and Finley because they need them to shoot big threes when comes playoff time.

JR Smith and Udonis Hasleem (Even Ben Wallace) would have dont it.

Spurs wouldn't trade Manu for Artest. If they're going to trade for him, it'll be for expirings, Mahinmi, R1 pick. It's not the best package somebody can offer the Kings, but it still fits the criteria that Petrie's looking for.

Manu while a very good player, doesn't make much sense for the Kings, because of the wings they already have, and would be one step close to really rebuilding.

Going after Ron is a luxury for the Spurs, not a need or desperation move.

If the Spurs make a move there's no way they get rid of Manu, pTP or Duncan, everyone else is up for grabs though at this point. Possibly even Bowen if it make sense. Most likely would be a Barry+ Elson + picks deal, i'm sure that is alot better than Kwame freakin Brown. So we should have some clout.

I don't see the logic many of these posts. Why would The Spurs trade Manu for Ron Artest? Manu is the only player who can create shots for himself in the half courrt when Duncan is not on the floor.

kings pick is actually pretty decent.. so I can see it being valuable. Especially if Kings decide to go on a firesale with bibby and ron artest...

Maybe spurs can trade back that pick and inclue their own pick plus elson, barry, bowne for ron artest and kenny thomas.

Manu isn't going anywhere. Tony isn't going anywhere. I don't think the Spurs FO would trade Tony for Kidd, at this point in their respective careers. No need for the Spurs to mortgage their future when they have a guy they can win titles with already at the PG spot, and is only 25. Seriously, there is zero chance the Spurs trade either of their big three. Elson, Barry, Bonner are the most likely to be traded, so we're limited on what we'd be able to get back if we did make a trade.

Why would the Kings trade away their draft pick? That'd be senseless and a terrible decision. Especially with them needing a future PG and PF. Also especially for a team that is semi-rebuilding, and would only shift more to rebuilding with Bibby and Artest not on the team, eventually.

Manu is the only player who can create shots for himself in the half courrt when Duncan is not on the floor.

Tony Parker can do this especially well, also. He didn't win the finals MVP for being a Barbosa (who isn't that good of a half-court player) kind of guard or a flow of the game offensive player. He's also been an all-star twice, you know .

Ranking well in PPG in the paint recently says a lot, as well.

If the Spurs make a move it will be a smart one. I don't see them hitting the panic button and doing something stupid like Phoenix did yesterday or gutting their rotation to add a star.

That being said, Ron Artest can be had for cheap right now, and if there's anyone in the leauge who can control him it's Pop. Artest is only 6-7, but he can harass a guy like Gasol or Dirk so the thought of him playing the 4 isn't that crazy.

If the Spurs do somehow put a deal together for Artest I hope Stern stops it because that just isn't fair.

A small ball line up of Tony, Manu, Bowen, Artest and Duncan would be sick. Absolutely sick. I literally give this no chance of actually happening, and Artest's issues scare me big time, but it certainly would be an impressive small line up.

Artest's attitude doesn't concern me..I want him on the Spurs for ANYONE, as long as it isn't the big 3..our lineups haven't been as good as they usually are in years prior, when Duncan and Parker sat..partly because Manu has slowed down heavily from his extremely hot start at the beginning of the season, and the role players haven't been as good..Artest on the team would give us 2 all-star caliber players to play when the other 2 sit..

I never thought I would say this. But the Spurs need some more help. They aren't equiped enough to play against the Lakers. Even Boston, they need to trade for Cassell and get some more help. So they can compete with the Lakers.
