Happy 34th birthday Steve Nash

Post#1 » by wfiles » Thu Feb 7, 2008 8:32 pm

Didn't know he was this old. Now I understand why they got Shaq. Only a 2 year window for a championship. :D

I don't see how replacing a 29 year old all star that is your best defensive player with a 36 year old center that is incapable of playing defense helps Nash....

Marion's defense is overrated. He is a versatile defender, but he isn't close to being an elite one.

Finishing 4th in the DPOY race behind Camby , Bowen and Duncan.... would disagree.

I agree that Marion is an overrated defender. He's not even close to a lock down defender. He's just a good utility to have on defense.

You don't have to be an elite defender to be Phoenix' best. I kid, I kid.

But seriously, yeah, he's a defensive stud--he could be better, yes, (who couldn't?) but at the cost of sacrificing his offensive game.

He's averaging 2 steals, a block and a half, and 10 rebounds--in an off year. Think about that.
Hello ladies. Look at your posts. Now back to mine. Now back at your posts now back to MINE. Sadly, they aren't mine. But if your posts started using Optimismâ„¢, they could sound like mine. This post is now diamonds.

Voted by the media, and thats my point. Marion is a good defender, but he has no business being voted DPOTY. The media voting him 4th place is overrating him. How many all-defensive teams has he been voted on by the coaches?

Happy Birthday, Steve!

Only on RealGM can a thread wishing Steve Nash a happy 34th birthday turn into a discussion about the 'elite-ness' of Shawn Marion's defense

...Gotta love it! :D

I thought the Suns were crazy when they were trying to trade Amare for KG considering the age gap.

But I've been thinking about two things:

A)Amare may not have that many years left with that surgery

B)Steve Nash isn't actually that young.

This team has a very short window and Kerr knows that which is why I've changed my mind about calling this a bad trade.

It's kind of like DWade who knew that window of the Heat was short which is why he tried to come back from that injury.

Shaq is hungry for another ring to cement his legacy and obviously Steve Nash wants some hardware.

Shaq does not make this team better. LoL! Trading your best defender for a player that plays no D and is no longer a real offensive threat is quite laughable. It is no longer 2002. The possibility of the Suns making the finals is ZERO!

He's an overrated defender (and I've always said this, even his days in phx), just like Bell making 1st team all nba defender is joke

Yes, being able to guard four positions well, average multiple steals / blocks and rebound at 10 a game is highly overrated

He still gets lit up a lot.
Yes, he's versatile, but he's not as good people make him out to be.
He's 3rd team all defense, which he didn't make last year, but people expected him to be 1st team, which he isn't.
