Brook Lopez?

Post#1 » by IggyTheBEaST » Wed Feb 6, 2008 9:17 pm

I dont have much to say about him, was hoping some of you knew more than I did. Ill honestly say Iv never seen him play, but his scouting report seems impressive. Just wondering why I havnt heard more talk about him...

Anyone have any info?

I think someone talked about him on the college b-ball thread. I don't have a lot of interest in him but then again, I've barely seen him play so what do I know.

I've seen him play & he looks like a fundamentally sound big who is not particularly athletic. He's more skilled offensively than Noah. He could play some center. I'd prefer Beasley, Arthur & Griffin to him though.

I really like Lopez as an NBA C prospect, but the one major flaw I see right now is all his shots are rushed. If he gets the ball in the post he usually commits himself to shooting right away and it often leads to ugly looking shots (amazingly many of them go in) where he almost just pushes the ball at the rim/backboard rather than setting his feet and taking a balanced shot.

From what I have seen, he's very tenacious on the offensive end getting a lot of pts on putbacks. He's an average to above average defender, but it's hard to tell if that just cause he's much taller than most other college guys. His height is a definite advantage on the offensive end too, but won't be as much at the NBA level. Overall a very solid prospect IMO. As far as college C's go, he'd be #1 on my list right now. I have to put him over D. Jordan cause I have seen very little positives from Jordan except for his body type. Lopez has a higher upside than Hibbert IMO and he's much more refined than Thabeet.

Of course. It's like last year when we wanted Horford & ended up with Jason Smith.
