Lakers fans here. I don't know if this was a good trade, or bad trade.
Can I have some opinions from you PHX fans.

With the best scorer in the NBA by our side, anything can happen.

Skeptical when I first heard about it... then I actually took some time to think it through and liked it.
Good trade for us IMO.
BTW, Scoop Jackson's article on the trade and what he thinks it will do for the Sun's is a good one.

I was totally against the trade at first, but the after i finally realized it was going to happen, i started to look for all the positives and stop thinking about the negatives, i liked trix and will always remember him for all the great things he did for the team and fans, but Shaq is a proven winner (4 RINGS) and just because he is not having such a great year so far doesnt give us reason to believe he cant pick it up once our trainers get a hold of him. Im really confident that the suns management did whats best for the team other wise the deal would have never happened.

On one hand I thought we could have gotten a lot more for Shawn, but on the other, with Lakers acquiring Pau, it seemed like a necessary thing to do. The loss of KT & TT among others has hurt pretty bad, and I don't think we could have gotten far without acquiring a solid big. Would have preferred a more youthier Power Forward to fit the system, but hey, what can you do with our ownership.

At first I thought it was a horrible deal for the Suns... But after thinking about it, it COULD work... However I do think that if they dont win it this year, then there is a very VERY small chance they win it the next 2 years.... AND its really gonna suck paying Shaq 20 mil in 2 years....
Its somewhat like when the Rockets got Barkley and Pippen... I feel like this is their last chance... I have been wrong before though

At first I was in shock!! Then I wasen't sure I like the trade, then I looked at what a post precense he can be then I started accepting the trade. Now, I'm so excited becouse one think for sure is that Shaq is motivated and when Shaq is motivated he usually makes things happen. I was really impressed with his weight(312 lbs) and his body fat (12%). If he can be around 300 lbs going into the playoffs we are going to be a title contending team.
Also many people forget that the Show Time Lakers where with an older Kareem Abdul Jabbar and he would rebound and passed the ball to the younger players.
Finally, we don't Shaq to be a dominate player or even a all star player. What we need Shaq to be is effective and rebound and be a defensive presence in the lane. That dosen't mean he is going to be the Ben Wallace of 2-3 yrs ago. What we need from him is to change shots along with Amare.
Also we now have and Answer for the Lakers tall line up of Bynum,Gasol and Odom with Shaq,Amare and Boris. Also the vs the Mavs, Nowitzki is going to have to guard either Amare or Hill. Amare is going to have the second or even at time the third defender from each team. The Spurs are going to make a decision, does Duncan play Shaq who can still over power him or play against Amare who is much quicker than him.

For me, it was the change I knew had to happen after last thursday's loss to the Spurs. I went to bed that night mad at this team, feeling for the first time in 3 years like the Suns could not win the championship. I woke up Friday realizing that the biggest problem the Suns had was mental. They had all the talent of anyone, but were mentally weak. And I also realized that whatever talk centering around chemistry and locker room issues had to be because of Shawn. We never wanted to believe it, but it had to be true on some level or it wouldnt have been discussed so frequently.
So my reaction to the trade rumor was, lets do it. We need the change and this is a big change. Then as Tuesday night wore on I got more and more excited until I was praying it would go down, even while many Suns fans were still upset about it. Now, I feel like we have addressed the mental deficiencies which I would have supported regardless but have also added SHAQ - FREAKIN SHAQ is a Sun!!! He addresses all our on court issues as well.
I now expect this team to be happy and fun again, i expect better in the paint D and rebounding, and once again I expect a title. I needed this trade.
