what is wrong with you ppl? do you not play or watch basketball? Maybe we can teach KWAME how to catch a ball in traffic in the offseason, or maybe we can teach Varajeao how to hit fadeaways, or maybe just maybe we will teach Bargnani how to rebound or play in the post. Maybe they will teach TJ how to play with heart, or to change his game up and not play so wildly. I can't believe no coaches have recognized that Shaq and Duncan can't shoot free throws - they need to teach them how to do it in the offseason!

This is the NBA kids... basically the skills you come into the league with (and the weaknesses you come into the league with) are basically what you have for your career. Sure, a guy like Jamison has learned to EXTEND the range on his jumpshot, but those are minor adjustments. saying "oh, we have to fix jamario's jumper"... that is just far easier said than done. He's a 27 y/o journeyman... do you not think that he's been working hard as hell on his jumper for the many years he's been dreaming of playing in the NBA? Let's hope that our assistant coaches can fix his jumpshot in the few months in-between seasons... working some improbable miracle that no coach has ever been able to do before.... honestly.... i wish you guys were right... but Jamario will never fix his jumper, he just needs to stick to his strengths

Moon's shot is something he's and we are going to have to live with for this season, hoping he can work and get his midrange slightly more reliable.
As stated before he's not getting to the basket as much because people back off and then he takes that shot and shows them they were right in backing off.
Lets just hope he can keep getting us some rebounds and maybe some defense.

As for davkad post, it was pretty stupid to begin with in proclaiming that players basically can't improve..
the whole TJ having no heart thing was just redundant in proving that basketball analysis is not one of his strong points

Agreed up to a point, when your getting chewed up by Smitch on a daily basis for not attacking, it's really up to the player at that point to bring it.

Do you realize that Delfino is shooting a higher percentage on 3-point attempts this year than he is on 2-point attempts?

Just because Delfino gets to the rim better than the rest of our wing players doesn't mean that he's especially skilled at it.

I would think he would be good at attacking the rim/penetrating the D as he has a long history of playing PG.

Players once they enter the NBA usually refine raw skills they already have more than learning new ones. Take Calderon, in his second year first of all he was more used to the NBA speed and became much better at picking his spots, than he increased his range like most shooters need to do in the first few years.

On the other hand, shooting open 3s from fixed spots (see Bowen) is something that is much easier to learn than, say, hitting contested jumpers off the dribble, so I can see almost anyone in the NBA become almost decent (33-35%) if he really dedicates to improve it.

moon's probably been shooting like this his whole career. no point in changing his mechanics now. he just needs to keep practicing. he's not even that bad of a jump shooter, and he's even made some clutch 3 pointers. i'm sure he'd drive the ball a lot more if he had better handles though. he should work on those too. he probably could even pull off a chris bosh like move where he just head fakes, takes one dribble then takes two steps to the basket and tries to lay it in or draw a foul.

Actually, TJ has shown the ability to get to the line with some consistency. Obviously not at the level of CB4, who is one of the best in the league, but on our team we could use more of that. I expect TJ to rack up free throws since he's coming off the bench.

Moon would improve his %s alot if he snuck in for more put back jams he has the hops to get to the ball first.

Hopefully now that TJ is back he will be better at setting up MOOOOOOONNN for backdoor passes and maybe he will start cutting to the rim harder in anticipation of those passes. TJ seems to look for those plays a lot more than Jose.

I actually think there is a misconception about Moon and his jumpshot.

While Moon's jumpshot doesn't look that nice, his mechanics are actually pretty solid.

He steps into his jumpers, and gets good follow through on his shot. He really does stroke the ball nicely.

I think it's a confidence issue. If you left Moon in a gym by himself he would be knocking down jumper after jumper. His shot will come around, I'm confident in that.

The thing that bothers me more isn't that he's not a good shooter, it's the terrible shots he takes at least a couple of times a game...you know, those one dribble pull up, off-balance fallaways...eewww.

he gets unnecessary elevation on his jump shots, when he's wide open he'll jump 10 feet in the air to shoot it.
