The bottom of the west is so completive its crazy, for me frankly I would be upset with either outcome for the team. I might be just seeing the positives but if they make the playoffs they get all there young guys experience playing ball at a different level. If they dont make it they still get at least a decent pick in a very good draft and can move it or use it. For a team so young there is nothing but positive already taken from this season (at least as a fan

On a semi-related note, I was watching Inside The NBA and they showed the teams ranked 6-13 in the East, and the Nets... A team 9 games under .500 at 20-29... currently hold the #8 spot and would be in the playoffs if they started today. I realize this is nothing new, but the East is just pitiful.

I think your estimate of wins and losses is doing the blazers a disservice.......the blazers are going to lose every game to the lakers at home and on the road? Who do you think the point guard is on that team, Magic?, is Kareem coming back also?
It will take at least 46 wins in the west and that could be tough, but I think we could still do it. Golden state is on their heals and Houston and Denver aren't perfect, but remember the top 10 teams are all withing 5.5 games.....it isn't that big a divide that can't be made up!

I don't think it's gonna happen. The west is just Ri-God-Damned-Diculously deep this year. It's gonna take 50 wins to get in. Hell, the 9th and 10th teams might have 50 wins this year. Seriously, we could end up with 50 wins and not make the playoffs.
Maybe it's not that it's deep as much as it's top heavy. There's a lot of really good teams 1 through 10 and teams 11 through 16 just suck. And most of the Eastern conference sucks. So all the good teams are beating the teams that they should and most everybody seems to be breaking even in their season series.
It's a weird season. Everyone seems to be trying their best every game. Usually guys take games off here and there and just don't have the intensity and lose games they should win. But all around the NBA that doesn't seem to be happening all that much this year.
