I've made up my mind about SVG. I don't like him.

I really do, and I think he's done a good job with time outs and he's shown good emotion on the sidelines this year at times at least. But the way he treats his players irks me. People write articles about how Orlando players don't listen to him, well why should they? Why should they be confident in him when he shows no confidence in them. He continues to punish players with DNP's. When he was just doing ti to J.J I could understand. But when Nelson got hit with several DNP's the red flag went up for me. I asked myself two questions, was Nelson playing well enough to start? And, was he playing well enough to come off the bench? The answer to the first question was touchy, leaning towards no. But the answer to the second question was a defeinitive yes. I mean it shouldn't even be asked. By not playing him, he showed him that he doesn't believe in him. It KILLS a players confidence. Everyone goes through slumps. I don't care who you are. He's gotta let guys play through them. He also has to settle on a rotation and stick with it. An nba coach can't change his starting guards every two weeks and expect to have any success in the nba playoffs. It just won't happen.

I know the team is better, but I think that has more to do with having Lewis and Turk in the lineup then it does with having SVG at coach. I think with Brian Hill Orlando's not doing much worse then they are, mabye even a little bit better. I wasn't the biggest Brian Hill fan either. I should also tell you guys, i'm a Giants fan. I watched them all year and their coach stuck with them through the bad times. He didn't make big lineup changes when they struggled and they did struggle big time at the start of the season and at the half way point. And look at them now. Right now I see Orlando as mabye a team that wins in the first round but no way do can they play with Detriot or Boston. Just no way. Not with only 3 guys getting consistent minutes.

haha, prepare to be the only one who doesn't like him. i havent even bothered reading the rest of this thread because i know you'll be a lone voice (am gonna go back after to see if my assumption is correct).

i don't like how he can sideline some players, but i do like that:

-we're winning
-he's got a plan

i can honestly see him incorporating JJ as the icing on the cake once the rest of the team has their roles down. unfortunately i can't see JJ wanting to stick around that long.

SVG is awesome. i could only be happier with him if JJ were playing, but heck, he's not and we're still winning, so why complain.

Hope? We are right. This team is 32-19. How can you be right when what SVG is doing is leading to wins. The last time we have been 13 games over .500 was 12 years ago. 12 YEARS. I was taller than Dwight 12 years ago.

He hasn't mixed it up that much. We have had 1 change at SG (from Bogans starting to Evans) and he only swapped Nelson and Arroyo when Nelson got injured, both times. The front court hasn't changed all year. I mean where is it that people think SVG is constantly changing the lineup.

We won't know until the playoffs. Regular season success in the nba doesn't always = postseason success. See Dallas and even the Suns.

SVG has done some of his best work when the expectations are low. In those situations he can be very creative and look toward developing the whole team rather than winning each game.

However you have to understand that the Magic have three stars on this team. Hedo, Dwight and Rashard creates some expectations and that causes a coach to micro manage each game for the W.

If JJ stays its quite likely that someone will have some kind of injury or fall out of favor for awhile. If JJ is as impressive in games as Denton says he is in practice he'll have his shot to make it very difficult to park him on the bench for several games at a time. It will be up to him then. SVG is a solid coach buts best when he's being creative. I don't think we've seen his best yet. Second half of the season is always more interesting.

If Nelson was completely healthy and was benched I wouldn't have a problem. Is there a more average NBA player more overrated by its fan base and front office than Jameer Nelson. Its like since he come into the league there has been this rush to make him a core member and build a team around him and Dwight. I'm not even sure if he has improved since coming into the leaguel. Its like some people are mad that SVG hasn't gotten the memo that Jameer and JJ are the future of the Magic backcourt. I think the reality is in SVG eyes some of these players aren't all that good.

is there really a 4 page topic over someone's disdain towards SVG? for not having a good point guard, i would say orlando has def. overachieved this year.

I have nothing negative to say about Stan at all. He is quite possibly the best coach this team has ever had. We'll have to wait and see if that statement is even remotely accurate, but I don't understand this thread at all. He can not be judged based upon if he's playing fourth string players or not, its the record that counts and playoff performances.

I do disagree with his position on Ariza, however I have to defer to the man on that front. He clearly has more information than me on that one. After the coaching carousel that we've had in recent years, and B.Hill given a second shot and failing, Stan should have roses thrown at his feet. We have other issues to argue about other than this.

I like SVG. So, I hope he doesn't continue to lose his temper as much as he did Wednesday while the Magic still were up by 13 points in the final couple minutes. Because I worry about his health if he keeps getting that mad. (I understand why he was mad....because he's trying to ramp up their intensity, but it really can't be good for him so I wish the team would accommodate him and win more games easily.)
