A win here could put the Sixers in the #8 spot for the playoffs. Woo-hoo!! What? You're not excited? Eh, me neither. Either way, the Sixers win this easily hence...

My Prediction: Sixers by 10+

It looks like the worst the Sixers could ever possibly be is the 5th worst.

I think 5th worst is out of reach at this point. If we assume that we reach 30 wins for the season (10-22 record for the rest of the season), the Knicks would need to finish out their season playing near .500 basketball (16-17) and that's not happening.

You act as if long winning and long losing streaks are not VERY common in the NBA... :wavefinger:

So let me get this straight... you believe the Knicks will go on a long (5 games or more) winning streak??? Is this right??? And even if they did, you don't believe that streak would be followed by a losing streak???

Let's cut thru all the BS... who will finish with the better wining percentage this season: The Knicks or the Sixers? I'll take the Sixers.

How can anyone not be excited for this game, so many things going on here...Young vs. Thornton who was the better pick and Kaman and Reggie get reaquainted. I know I'm reaching here, not as much as Reggie though.

Hey man... get hype cause while the Patriots tried to take a trip to Perfectville... our Sixers are in the car and are on the way to Playofftown.

Look at the teams we are supposedly "battling" for the 8th seed... which of them is actually better than us?

The Bulls are missing Deng, Hinrich, and Gordon.

The Nets could blow that team up within the next two weeks and trade Kidd.

The Pacers are coached by Jim O'Brien and have an extremely inconsistent roster.

Someone has to get into the playoffs and get swept by the Celtics (or Pistons) so why not us? :-)

I've said this before, but we got to face the fact that we might actually slip into the playoffs. And i've somewhat given up on losing because the wins are building confidence for our young guys. These wins have been different cuz its been thad, lou, igg on the court closing out games for us. I'm scraping my lottery dreams for a last year warriors surprise in the playoffs.

By the way, the BIG difference between last year and this year is that if we somehow slid into the playoffs last year, we would have lost the rights to our 1st rd pick. We had to root for our team to lose!

This year... losing would certainly increase our chances in the lottery but we're not cracking into the bottom 5 so why not try and get some playoff experience and not only build the young guys' confidence but make this a more attractive destination.

Let's say we offer Emeka a max type deal and Memphis offers him a max type deal... perhaps Emeka looks at us and thinks he has a better chance to win here. Of course, none of that will matter since Charlotte will match.

That's fine. So then answer my question. Who will finish with the better winning percentage... The Sixers or The Knicks??

Stop avoiding the issue with your rhetoric about what happens in the NBA all the time and step up and tell me that you believe the Knicks will finish with a better winning percentage than the Sixers this season.

You seem a little quiet so you must have missed this the first two times I posted it. Allow me to rephrase the question to a simple YES or NO for you.

Will the Knicks finish with a better winning percentage at the end of this season than the Sixers?

I've answered "no". Your turn.

EDIT: By the way, I don't want to leave anyone out of this so I'd like to see other posters answer that same question as well. Thanks.

We'll finish better than the Knicks. They're a mess and won't get less messy anytime soon. We're not a mess...we're just young and undermanned. We could catch a hot streak along the way. A mess just spins out of control

I'm not going to fault SendEm for "hoping" that the Knicks somehow go on a long winning streak and pass us in the standings... but at some point we have to seperate fact from fiction and that the fact of the matter is that Knicks are a terrible team with a terrible coach who simply aren't going to win 6 or more games than us over the next 30.

MOVING ON.....

Did anyone hear Stefanski on WIP this morning? I heard a clip of it in which Ed talked about how good he thinks the team is playing but I'd like to know more about what he said. Anyone???

The knicks have played better since Marbury stopped playing. They could win a fair share of games, but 500 is very unlikely unless their schedule is like ours has been the last wk.

Since Marbury shut it down for the season, the Knicks have gone 5-10 and are currently in the middle of a 7 game losing streak. Again, in order for them to get to 30 wins at this point, they will have to finish out the season with a 16-17 record.

To make matters worse, I just looked at the Sixers' remaining schedule and I believe that they'll cross the 30 win plateau by Aril 1st and will probably finish with 32 or 33 wins instead of the projected 30.

How sad will it be if a team with 32 or 33 wins makes the playoffs? Does anyone else think they should trim the NBA playoffs down to 6 teams per conference? The playoffs go opn for too long and allow too many teams in. Then again, 6 teams per conference would mean that 2 teams would get a bye (a week off) and that could actually hurt the better teams.
