Moon Called a Scrub on PTI

Post#1 » by Indiana Jones » Fri Feb 8, 2008 11:14 pm

Just watched PTI and heard Tony Kornheiser call Moon a scrabino (??) while voicing his displeasure about the lack of stars in the dunk comp. I suppose you could count Green in that category, but they only showed a video of Jamario when talking about the poor quality of players in the comp. Kinda insulting given that he's a rookie and the comp is reserved for younger players. Anyway, I just felt it was an unnecessary shot at Moon. Give the guy a chance to prove himself before calling him a scrub.

He's gonna silence the critics when he dunks the ball. You wanna know why all the star's don't wanna be in the dunk competition? Because they'd get embarrassed by guys like Moon.

Don't worry, Kornheiser will soon find out about the Moon Walker. That free throw line dunk (if completed) can put Moon in the top plays in NBA History category. If he is known for nothing else when he's retired that dunk could be his claim to fame. Possibly the best leaper in NBA History.

Exactly, it has nothing to do with the risk of injury but has everything to do with the risk of hurting their ego and their endorsements.

has there ever been a serious injury in the dunk comp?

you have to admit that ego has something to do with it...

Everyone knew Mr.Carter could dunk as well. If Moon wants to silence his 'critics' he'll look for high percentage shots and learn to dribble.

He should get like Deshawn Stevenson and train with Gilbert, shoot 1000 jumpshots a day.

LOL I'm not angry at him, on the contrary, I like him. But I hate when he bricks 4/5 OPEN jumpshots.

I could make them :$ but I can't jump like mr.Moon

Wilbon gave Moon props a few weeks ago... Kornheiser knows very little about the NBA, as he said this years dunk contest and the more recent ones were full of scrubs, but Wilbon pointed out Dwight Howard was in the dunk contest, while Tony said he wasn't there last year, but Stat Boy corrected him on that as well...

Lets face it, Wilbon knows his stuff on the NBA, while Tony knows just enough to keep up with the more mainstream topics, ie Shaq, Kobe, LeBron, etc., and little else.

With a shooting percentage of .447 Jamario Moon has a better shooting percentage than Michael Redd, Allen Iverson, Baron Davis, Antawn Jamison, Joe Johnson our old friend Vince Carter, Ben Gordon, Jamal Crawford, Paul Pierce... I still rather see him dunk aggressively than take a shot however...

I really don't understand why the dunk competition has to be about names. It should be about the dunks. If the competition sucks (kind of like the last few years where it hasn't been as good since Vince won it), you can argue that, at least if Kobe was doing those crappy dunks, that you could cheer for/against Kobe. But if someone brings a really good dunk to the table, that is what the competition is about.

It's all about ego with the older stars though. You lose some of your athleticism as you transition yourself into being a smart player instead of just a guy looking to make flashy plays. Sure they could probably do something great, but they also might not get the air they did when they first came into the league. The "good" dunks have all been done, so essentially the competition has become, who can add something on top of what was done before.

Can you imagine if Kobe entered the competition and pulled a Birdman or Nate Robinson, he would be panned incessantly. And yet, those two show up, look awful/unimpressive, and we just joke about it.

yep i agree. but he made a point of calling moon a scrub as his clip showed...nothing confusing there...

i know it's not a big deal...but i'm hoping to check back in after the dunk comp and see what they have to say about moon on PTI then...

hopefully he completes something wild...(oh yeah, and hopefully his jumper starts to fall for the rest of the season...
