G, I think the gay stuff is the reason Hardaway is being shut out, too controversial and too recent, the Heat don't want to reignite that anytime soon. I bet if Hardaway hadn't said his comments they'd have honored him. I mean he had a better Heat career than Steve Smith or Grant Long, for example and they both had their own nights.

I don't think Shaq did enough to get his number retired here. I mean if being part of the team that won a ring is all you need to do to qualify then we would have to retire 12-15 numbers.
Tim Hardaway did more than Shaq in Miami. Glen Rice, Steve Smith, Seikaly and many others. So no, I wouldn't retire Shaq's number here. The Lakers should do it, not us.

Tim did more than Shaq in Miami?
I appreciate what Tim brought to Miami but nothing special as the championship Shaq gave to them.
Take it to consider Michael Jordan's no. is retire and what he did for Miami is sorrow and painful experience in opposite to what Tim did.
Barkley's no was retired at Phoenix even though a finals appearance only.

Zo (33), Timmy (10) and Wade (3). That's it for now.
Tim did more than Shaq for the Heat. He gave his heart, soul and body to the team. He played hard always - and often hurt - and never quit.
We couldn't have won the championship without Shaq. But now looking back on his Heat career, Shaq was always about Shaq, not the Heat. To me, over the last year Shaq lost interest in the team and couldn't wait to get out of Dodge. Maybe the Lakers should retire his number but not the Heat.

Whenever the subject of retiring numbers comes up, we all tend to forget a really important one...Pat's.
Phil Jackson, Red Auerbach, Chuck Daly, and Frank Layden all have their "numbers" retired by their respective franchises. I'm sure Arison will see to it that Riley has his own banner hanging from our rafters.

The fact we retired Jordan's number just as a publicity stunt, probably means will retire Shaq's number. Do I think Jordan's number should be retired in Miami, hell no. He only brought misery to me when he played against us. Know should Shaq's number be retired, do to his legacy as a Heat player, not on some other motivation like publicity stunt, but on his legacy as a Heat player(not his legacy as a Laker), not really. If we keep retiring numbers for the sake of it, will probably run out numbers to retire very soon.
Zo for sure though.
Wade in later down the line.
If we retire Shaq's number, will probably retire Shawn Marion number too, no joke.
