I've never been so proud of any one on this board! I'm honored that my 700th post was spent honoring your valiant effort defending the Sonics.
I read the entire thread. Way to stay in there. I'd have backed you no matter what anyway, but your points were excellent. That mod was probably having his period that week.

i read the post as well. and i think wiff did a fine job right up to the point where he called the mod a jerk. having said that, the mod made no fewer than 20 posts in an eight page thread, some quite long. in my view, at some point the moderator needs to make his position on a subject known and then get the hell out of the way. let the thread develop without the unyeilding and unending input of said mod. at some point it becomes argumentative at best and a downright hi-jacking of the thread at worst.
thank god we have resonable, paitent, and respectful mods on this board. we as posters are allowed to have our say without undue influence or interference, and are sometimes allowed to push the envelope (i certainly appreciate that!) right to the edge.
i for one am glad to have wiff back. while we often disagree, i certainly respect his opinon and the fact that he is without a doubt a true SEATTLE SUPERSONICS fan. and those pictures are sometimes both hilarious and disturbing.
bottom line, take caution when dealling with some moderators, i learned that lesson the hard way.

Impressive platform you've put together so quickly. I'm sold. Let me know if your looking for a campaign advisor, although I must admit, in the interests of a complete & thorough campaign, that you failed to cover your position on Bennett & the remote yet pesky chance he'll take the Sonics to Joklahoma...

If I may, I think wiff may be a better fit as, oh, a comptroller general or something...
Ahhh...but keep in mind that all mods start off as posters. Being mod shouldn't mean ability to converse and post should be stifled. Of course, I say this as a mod with 15k or so posts...

faie enough sweezo. but i think that once a person becomes a mod, the rules change just a bit. and i was pointing to one specific example. i am sure you looked over the thread in question. that was a bit much in my opinion. i think we would like to hold the mods to a higher standard.
perhaps i take the definition of the word moderator a little too literally?

D5150, I'm not sure mods should be held to any higher standard. I think it's more of a case that mod's should only participate up to their ability to not become power crazed douche bags.
Unless there's something blatently aweful, with willful intent, comments should be let go. Whether they were made by Mods or Rookies.
At the end of the day this is a basketball forum. Didn't we all learn the game playing pickup games at our local schools by the "no blood no foul" rule? Remember playing organized ball... didn't the best refs warn you a little bit, especially at the beginning, before blowing the whistle?
IMO that mod was defeated by the strength of Wiff's points & went douche bag. The mod should've been suspended.

yeah. again, i foolishly was considering the dictionary meaning of the word moderator.maybe "higher standard" was the wrong phrase, but i think you get my point. i certainly get your point. and agree with it by the way.
anyhoo..isn't there a game in about 2 hours? should be fun...........

I once refered to a moderator as a "gutless punk" in the PI forum and it resulted in an IP ban without a warning. In comparison, Wiffler got off lightly.
The lesson I learned is it's probably best to treat a mod like a boss... you can heatedly state your case as long as you use respect (you might even get more respect in return of the deal), but try calling your boss a name and see how quickly that lands you on the unemployment line. If your boss pisses you off, it's alot safer to just call the guy working next to you a jerk instead.
