Raps NEED Corey Maggette

Post#1 » by RapsBulls4evr » Sat Feb 9, 2008 5:07 am

Seeing as how we have a Mike Miller thread, a guy we really don't need, I decided to make a Corey Maggette thread. I don't think I even need to bother explaining why he would absolutely make us better as he just showed it tonight.

If not Corey, then: Gilbert Arenas, AK47, RJ, etc.

Bosh needs another tough, proven star/all star at the SF/SG position if we want to make some noise and actually go past the 1st round in the playoffs, and start contending in the East.

IF BC doesn't make a trade before the deadline or trades for a mediocre/good role player, we are looking at another possible first round exit.

... meh, maybe I'm just frustrated about the loss to the clippers, I dunno, but something about this team feels different compared to last year, was it Garbo? TJ being out to long? :x

Corey proved to me he's not as overrated as I thought... Guy might actually be a good fit here... and he's still young...

The only problem is that Donald Sterling is his #1 fan, and actually refused to let them trade Maggette since he loves him... I doubt they let him go so easily...

The Donald Sterling factor is there. Yes, a player like Mags would be nice...but at what cost?

The sad thing is Clippers fans are probably laughing at how bad we suck, and then they come to our forum seeing a thread saying we need one of their players....

I love Maggette. I absol. love how he takes advantage of smaller players guarding him. We could def. use a player besides Bosh who gets the opposing team into foul trouble.

Did you see how much fouls he made the entire roster commit during the game?

Lol, they can check the "Raptors like Mike Miller thread" Corey's name has been brought up quiet often (was one of those people). Before this 'loss'.

I would much rather have Mike Miller than Gil. Washington is a better team without him and we are to. He sucks at D, he demands many shots that take his teamates outa the game. He puts his personal agenda ahead of the teams. No us here!

Maggette on the other hand serves a huge purpose for our team. He gets to the line and he does so regularly. He's one of the best in the league at it and if we could get him without losing CB/AB/AP/JC/TJ I say do it!
The space he could create, toughness and athleticism he would add would be a welcome bonus

Corey Maggette would be great here. But I dont think we have what it takes to get him in a trade.

He's also a free agent after this year (correct me if I'm wrong)... and Raps dont have the money to sign him either.

Gilbert Arenas is a top 10 player. You don't say no to top 10 players who are 26 years old. Not like Gil owuld be coming here anyway.

Ford has never gotten a chance to play Pauls minutes. When he has hes put up similar numbers, and Ford can take over games like Paul can. But as for now Paul is on another level till Ford can prove otherwise

maybe moon ( delfino , graham, dixon, anthony parker any of these guys could substitute depending on what clippers want )+ 1st round pick + rasho ( his expiring will be a huge asset at the end of this season ) in exchange for corey and some salary dump or contract that clippers want to get rid of.

Sorry but what level is Gil on? Seriously, how does such an average player get put on this high level? Cause he writes a funny blog? Cause he makes big bold statements that he can't backup? His career stats are average, his team plays better without him. His game is self absorbed and limits, not make better, the players around him. Mike Miller over Agent 0 in a heartbeat, straight up if I'm a GM.

And TJ's level won't be that far from Paul's when it's all said and done. He will be mentioned in the same breath and I believe that he could surpass him when it's over. Health will decide. Flame away!

Everyone needs to relax and take a CHILL PILL!!!!! It was one loss, and it was because we did not execute. Second when you have a ROOK in your starting line-up he is obviously going to make stupid plays or lack there of not make plays (not fouling MAGGS) with 17sec left, forcing bosh to foul out! I mean COMMON MOOOOOON be smart and take it to the Rim! Paul Jones is saying it Jack Armstrong is saying it your team mates are saying it, heck SMITCH is saying it! do your job!

I would trade Gil straight up for Miller in a heartbeat, no questions asked.

Lets see:

Gil 26 Mike 28
Gill shoots a career ave .427
Miller shoots a career .509
Gill is .356 career from behind the arc
Miller is .401
Arenas was getting 4.4 boards a game
Miller pulling in 6.7 boards
Gil career average in TO's is 3.35
Miller's 1.88

Miller is getting 17 pnts /game this season
And Gil gets his 22. We all know that Miller would be killing him if he was as jack happy.

Ok so, how is this Agent 0 miles ahead of Miller? He's not but if you like your athletes over hyped and under performed than Gils the guy for you.

edit:
One more interesting tidbit to add about Sir Gil

Miller has played in a career 542 games and has 2859 shots
Arenas has played 426 (116 les games 10 thousand less minutes) but has taken 3,145 shots. Miller has a better shot than Gil and uses it more effectively. GA shots come at times when its counter productive to his team. I've seen him numerous times shoot his team right out of a game. He's about himself and getting his. His chip on his shoulder has nothing to do with his team winning but rather Gil showing them. It shows.

Dude, I don't know what you're smoking, but it must be good... You're argument is so strange, I don't know why I would even bother to respond, as nearly everybody here would disagree with you...

Gilbert Arenas does not average 22 ppg when healthy... He's only played 8 games this year....

06-07----28.4 ppg 6.0 apg 4.6 rpg
05-06---29.3 ppg 6.1 apg 3.5 rpg

3 Time All-Star, 3 Time on All-NBA Teams, Most Improved Player, has a career high and franchise record of 60 points in a game!!

This man is an elite player, top 5 in the NBA when healthy, and one of the best pure scorers along with Kobe and AI... He's an extremely talented individual...

Mike Miller...

07-08----- 17.0ppg, 6.7 rpg, 3.7 apg
06-07-----18.5 ppg, 4.3 apg 5.4 rpg

Average player who's never averaged more than 18.5ppg, not even close to an All-Star or borderline All-Star....Not even the second best player on his team when Gasol was there, now the second best after Rudy, and you try to compare him to Gil??? LMAO....

I'm going to let you off the hook because you're either high, a relative of Mike Miller's, or you've never seen Gilbert Arenas play in your life... Please educate yourself about the NBA before making strange comments...
