Gerald Green

Post#1 » by ray ray » Sat Feb 9, 2008 7:02 pm

We are looking to fullfil the 13th spot in the Suns roster. How about Gerald Green. Green is a legit 6'8 who is a freak athletic wise and can shoot the 3 consistantly. He is a Trevor Ariza type of player who can impact and change a game with a spectacular dunk. Green's defense is not that shabby either, he can defend 1-3 but it looks like he is not the smartest player but to be fair, neither was Marion.

If anything we can hide him becouse of Nash brilliance and if he works with Hill and Raja during practice ,I want to beleive that he will improve immensly becouse of the high Basketball IQ that is already in place in the Suns locker room. Green has always played for teams that are rebiulding and maybe if we let him know that we are not expecting him to be the next Rashard Lewis( i.e Celtics & T-wolves) but rather we want him to impact our team wirh hustle and spreading the floor and bringing the thunderest dunks into the US airways.

Green has the capability to be as good as Marion becouse quite frankly he has the same tools as Marion. The differance is that Marion has fullfill them and Green hasen't. But to be fair Green didn't attend college while Marion did. This is a very good replacement if Green can bring us the hustle, excitment and shooting ability. The wolves are not going to resign Green and it looks like Green wants to be traded to another team. Maybe just maybe we afford the wolves a second round pick for Green they would bite.

The one thing that many are not talking is the expectation that Shaq is going to require from each player (Boris, Barbosa and Amare) to bring their A+ game for the playoffs.

Suns trade:
Trade Exception
2nd round pick

Have you seen Gerald Green play a game? He's a terrible defender, and to even mention him in the same sentence as Marion is an insult to Shawn. Go to the Wolves board and read up on what they think of him. Besides, dude seems to have a bit of an attitude to me, and we don't need him in our lockerroom.

Looks good to me, based on his stats and Hollinger. My only concern would be that he probable wouldn't get a ton of playing time, but then, we're looking for a 13th player.

I'd say go for it, if Minnesota will take the trade.

Two things:

1. He's been complaining in Minnesota about PT and he's been getting close to 15 MPG. He's a FA at the end of the season, so I doubt he will be any happier getting a ton of DNPs in Phoenix.

2. His defense is not on par with DJ or Hill.

It's not a terrible move to bring him in, but I don't see him breaking the rotation and stealing minutes from Barbs/Diaw/Hill. So, then he would get the "DJ role" of some game with 10-15 MPG, some with 5-10 and a ton of DNPs. I doubt he would be happy with that role going into FA.

hollinger is the biggest "sob" ever, he has no knowledge of the game of basketball in my opinion, before the season started i believe he predicted the rockets of going 62-20 and winning the west. clueless i tell ya.

Man Green is nothing like Marion. the guy is an athletic freak, but more in the mold of an Ariza type skillset, but with a nice 3 point shot which comes and goes. To be honest I see him having a career like JR Smith when he could, if he ever got it all together, have a career like JRich.

And DJ is NOT better than Green at this stage, they're about on par with GG maybe by a nose because of his experience and 3 point shot

Never really liked green. He just seems lost on the court. He is not a good defender, and to top things off he is inconsistent.

I wouldn't mind him. I just think Pietrus is a better option.

Ha, I think I'm a genius. Called it 4 years ago :D

In saying that, from what he did in NJ (and that RIDICULOUS athleticism), it couldn't hurt to bring him in on a make good deal for a year, especially if we miss out on Gordon and are just looking to put points on the board/bums on seats til making a big offer to Harden
