If Phoenix wins the Title? Should Shaq get all the credit

Post#1 » by B-Scott » Sat Feb 9, 2008 10:48 pm

If the Suns all of a sudden finally get to the Finals and win it,should Shaq get majority of the credit for them finally getting over the hump? They have had multiple years where they have had great records, but always get eliminated. Now Shaq comes to town and now there winning Titles all of a sudden.

That's what I fear is going to happen....it won't be Phoenix's championship, it'll be Shaq's championship.

And that sucks.

Depends what Shaq does. There's a difference between being the final piece to a champion, and getting all the credit.

edit: Provided they win the championship of course

I'm pretty sure if the Suns wins, the record books will say 2008 NBA Champions: Phoenix Suns, not Shaq.

He won't get all the credit, but people will say that move put them over the top.

Just like people say the SHeed trade put Detroit over the top.

IF he wins with suns he will be clearly the greatest Center of all time....

That's silly.

He helped Miami win its title, yet he's not the greatest player in this franchise's history.....

He got Miami its only Championship and you're going to knock him after he gets traded? Wow. Just wow. I can only pray for your sake that you land someone decent in the lottery...

At least with the media he would IMO. The fact that the Suns haven't made the finals at all the past couple of years with the most talented roster and then pulling off a move everybody's questioning and if it happens to work out in terms of winning the championship, I'm sure the headlines would be all about Shaq being the guy that took them over that hump.

He wouldn't get all the credit, but I'm sure he'd get a large percent of it.

Agreed; wouldn't have guessed that a Suns fan would be all that choosy.

As a fan of a team that's won plenty of championships, let me offer some advice -- take those bad boys any way you can get them.

They all look the same in the trophy case.

lol @ reading comprehension, or lack there of.

In no way did I knock nor mock Shaq for his accomplishments

I simply stated that, he helped Miami win its only title, yet he didn't become Miami's greatest player in franchise history.

Depends on if he had a dominant finals or not.

Disagree Bill Russell was the best Center of all time. He won more rings and was more dominate.
