Official NBA Trade Deadline Thread: 12 days

Post#1 » by Test of Wills » Sat Feb 9, 2008 10:26 pm

I know it is a bit early but I know there will be many posters that will want to post there ideas of any trades that the Raptors might be pursuing. The NBA Trade Deadline is on Thursday February 21st. There have been a few big trades that have occurred in the past week from the Gasol Trade to the Shaq Trade which made the West considerably stronger. That leaves us for our very own Toronto Raptors, we all know what we need and want a rebounding big and a tough-nosed aggressive SF who could slash. There are players that fill this bill from Ruben Patterson to Reggie Evans but BC and the Raptors don't really have many great assets. There have been rumors that Colangelo has been discussing trades including Juan Dixon and Joey Graham which is not shocking due to the struggles both players have had this season. There has been a buzz on this board about players that the Raptors SHOULD get like Mike Miller and Corey Maggette but can we get them? Do we have enough assets and fillers to satisfy the other team?

Players that will stay put
Chris Bosh
Jose Calderon
TJ Ford
Andrea Bargnani

Players that can be traded but will probably stay put
Anthony Parker
Jason Kapono
Jamario Moon
Carlos Delfino
Rasho Nesterovic (can be put in the list below but will be needed in the stretch run and playoffs)
Darrick Martin

Players that will likely be on the move
Juan Dixon
Joey Graham
Kris Humphries
Maceo Baston

With BC you never know anyone can be traded but this is just solid outline.

Do you guys see BC being active on the phone come Feb. 21st?

Why not, he will be traded if that means improving the team.

I agree. People don't understand...if it helps the team they'll be gone. AP is one of those.

There are only really 3 maybe 4 guys that cannot be traded and that's Bosh (duh), Ford (injuries), Calderon (back-up...he's needed) and Bargnani because he can play better than he is right now and BC will not let him go.

His presence on the court makes the biggest difference during games . His defense is need, he can lockdown many of the best guards in the league in clutch time.

If AP leaves, Raps won't be the same ol' team.

My suggestion, Raptors should get Tyrus Thomas. I'm sure he's available .. We could whipp up a deal for this guy . It would be nice to see him play for the raps.

Exactly, the goal for the franchise is to win and ultimately win a championship. In order to do that you have to make moves and take risks in for that to happen.

HalfManHalfAmazing, I'm not disagreeing with you that Parker is valuable to the team, but his veteran leadership and poise can easily be replaced. Just curious but if Cuban called you and you were the Raptors GM and he offered you Josh Howard for Anthony Parker straight up, what would you do?

anything can happen.

Kidd, Carter still need to get traded.
Dunno if WAS wants Gilbert given their team's success.

Almost entire MIL team is out there to entertain trade possibilities.

Duhon's been rumored to be a trade bait.

T-MAC could be moved.

So, lots could happen (or not) and Raps are ideal as a 3rd party team in a trade.

I think anyone on this team can get traded, except Chris Bosh.

Say Kerr calls up and offers Steve Nash for Juan Dixon, straight up, what do you do?

Your kidding rightt?? I think ToffBosh wanted to just give an example. The gap between Steve Nash and Juan Dixon is way bigger than the gap between Josh Howard and Anthony Parker.
To stay on Topic I see a Joey Graham and Juan Dixon for a big in the works.

I think trading for the big 12-18 mill player is premature this year. I can see them jumping the gun in 1-3 years.

i dont think so, pacers let us sign baston, why would they want him back. From their perspective, that trade doesn`t help them at all.

I have a feeling the Raps are going to make a move for a relatively prominent swing man at the deadline. I don't know why, but I do. Like Miller, Maggette, Salmons type of calibre.

Probably getting caught up into trade deadline fever.

Outside of Bosh and Bargs, I think everyone else is fair game.

The chance of Ford and Calderon getting traded might not be high. But if we swing a blockbuster, there is a pretty good chance that one them will get packaged.

The thing about trades in the nba, they are never predictable.

Trying to predict what BC will do is pretty much a waste of time.

The trade he makes is something that will probably first make us all go wtf?

Next thing you know Jason Kidd is a Raptor.

Return to Toronto Raptors
