Okay...Bass/George/Dirk? I really can't look at the stats and see if George or Bass was the PF, but whatever.
When is is covering guys like Ron Artest, Carmelo Anthony, etc, he does well. If he has that ability, experimenting further would be great as me may not have a trade coming our way and we want to put the best 5 out there. And in MOST situations, I think that best 5 is Harris / Howard / Bass / Dirk / Damp or Diop. This would also help if in 18 months, Bass decides he wants a staring spot or he bails in free agency ( like Boozer did Boozer). Personally, I like what I am seeing and would like to see him at the SF spot as Howard is 28 and a 30+ 6'5" small forward relying on athletism naturally starts becoming a SG anyways (a la Hill).

George plays on the perimeter, Bass gets the ball and faces up near the basket. That should tell you who the pf was.

I'm not sure where you're getting this from. Artest hasn't played in our two games against Sacramento. Carmelo only played in one game against us but trust me, we didn't have Bass guarding him. I can't ever remember him guarding a perimeter player unless there was a switch.

A lineup that we haven't played once this year is our best?

Notice that the guy you are comparing him to is a power forward. Also, In the "Brand to Dallas" thread you called Bass a post playing pf. If you want to see him get some time as a SF that's fine with me. He hasn't gotten that time yet though, so I think saying he has that ability is a little premature.

Okay, maybe I'm getting Artest confused with someone else, but I do remember Bass playing people that I remebered because I was surprised to see Bass' quickness in coving player I thought would blow by him (SFs). And I don't like our D when Bass & Dirk are covering the middle.
I never said our best lineup was that; I said our best 5. I think it would be in this teams best interest in moving Howard to the 2 since he is a jumpshooter now and Bass at the 3 since he has a jumpshot on the offensive end and is quick on the defensive end.
I never said that it was a sure thing, but I think it should most definatly be explored if Avery wants to cut the rotation down in the playoffs (with Diop in that rotation against most of the western conference).
Now, obviously, if we are facing Davis/Ellis/Barnes/Jackson/Harrington, you would want Bass at the 4 or 5, but I think Bass' true position would be F (SF/PF) with limited amount of time at the 5.

Artest at the right price, Iverson or any other PG, NO!!!!!!!! And "Big name" does not mean "big results."
If Brandon Bass is your version of an "ANIMAL" you guys are in big trouble. You ARE enroute to another first round exit!

Hate to agree with a Suns fan. Even though I do think Bass is a good fit when we are playing Golden State or someone with a small lineup, when he doesnt have the size advantage, he is pretty much useless. Bass isnt our Animal anymore though... Avery said before the game yesterday that he took Bass's nickname away till he re-earned it.

Oh and Walton and Stephen A. are dumb.
I think it will be a very busy off-season. Anything short of a championship win will be a failure for this team because our window of opportunity will be nearly closed.
If the pieces are there to make it happen, the Mavs should make a move now imo. Problem is, we have no trade pieces without giving up core so we are not in a good position.
It is imperative that Harris and Howard take on much larger roles the rest of this season and Diop become more involved if we don't make any moves before the TDL.

You and I are see very eye-to-eye. I think we are an Artest or M. Miller move away from improving an already good team. However finding a team willing to deal with what he have is proving to be difficult. I think we are right there but if we don't bring home the Larry O'Brien it is going to be a very busy offseason.

I heard a rumor on hoopshype that Miami is offering Ricky Davis' expiring for Miller.
I don't think we can offer anything close to that. Artest might be our best chance on improving.
What are your thoughts on J. O'Neal? Maybe KVH, Diop, Bass, and Barea?

From what I hear is that JO could be out for the whole season.
