The Nets, Way Too Much Talent to Lose Right?

Post#1 » by Jajwanda » Sat Feb 9, 2008 10:13 pm

This is going to sound really really stupid and no I am not trollling, but how the heck are the Nets losing in the East with this much talent?

Let's compare with the Celtics:

PG- Kidd vs. PG- Rondo

Don't get me wrong, Rondo is solid but comon.

SG- Carter vs. SG- Allen

Most would say Allen is a cerebral player that atleast tries on defense but I'd say Carter at his best is harder to guard because of his variety of moves.

SF- Jefferson vs. Pierce

A win for the Celtics, but not by a huge huge margin.

I realize the Celtics have Garnett, but even then the Celtics are winning at a decent clip without him and Sean Williams isn't bad.

Can any Nets fans explain to me what's going on?

The Nets don't play defense, its really as simple as that. In years past the Nets were an average-good team because they were committed to playing defense, for whatever reason they just don't give a damn about playing d' anymore...

Also, the Nets' parts don't mesh as well as the Celtics' parts so the Nets don't have as good synergy as the Celtics.

even if Rivers is a bad coach we can say:

Rivers > Frank
Captain Kidd-New Jersey or not,a Net forever!

well carter is better than allen but u have to look it this way Allen Can shoot mid-rangers and 3s

pierce and jefferson are slashers pretty equal atleast points wise

Garnett is the big difference the Cs can just thrown it down to KG at the end of games and let him score easily thats why the cs dont blow leads

Frank flat out stinks

Talent alone isn't winning games , you also have to be 100 % commited to always give your best .

The Celtics aren't even comparable to us due to Garnett. That's a HUGE difference.

2 things.

1. No Heart on Defense.
2. We have no reliable scorers outside of Carter and Jefferson. If krstic can prove hes back to normal then that will help, and if kidd keeps shooting well , sure we can compete.

we can defiantly compete, we just don't give it 100%.

Well here the reasons:

1.First thing's first there are some holes in the roster, the team lacks a good shooter, they had 2 last year, but House is now a Celtic and Noki's shoot has good and bad nights.

2.An un-experienced front court- Williams and Boone are great but they sometimes make rookie/sophmore mistakes, thankfully Kristic is back.

3.Nenad was out for a big chunk of the season- Nenad saved this team in 04-05 and if he can regain his form(so far everything beside's his shoot looks great) he will do that again this season.
Opposing big's litteraly abused Sean and Josh on D because their lack of size but if you look at the Bobcats game, Nenad's D has improved a lot and it frustrated the **** out of Omeka.

4.Carter's health/laziness- no one knows exactly why but Vince's game has been pretty average this year, some claim it was his ankle while others claim its just Vince not caring now that he's getting paid thanks to 4 year contract, on the other hand lately he showed sign's of the old Vince and has been attacking the rim.

5.D- This team's D has gone down the crapper especially from the 3 point line, Frank doesnt have enough confidence in our big's D so he gets our backcourt to help them only to get a 3 in return as punishment.

6.And most importantly our coach- Frank is the single worst coach in this league today, his rotations are the absulote worst, it took him 6 weeks to realise that Collins is no starter, he doesnt give players that can really help us like Swift and Mag's a chance, the players dont listen to him anymore, he for some odd reason decided to make the offense revolve around RJ and RJ is a top notch 2nd option but not close to being a good 1st option,.
The only reason he's still here is because he kissed way too many you know what.

7.This is a post all star game team, every year for whatever reason they turn it around after Feb 21/

So yeah dont count out the Nets yet :)

Well said. I'd like to EMPHASIZE the injury bit. Krstic, VC, marcus williams... But I think we will see a turn around as VC has got his step back, Krstic will only get better, Swift may or may not help us, marcus is getting back slowly yet surely... and SWAT and Boone have more competition wtih Krstic and Swift, so the frontcoart is gonna have to work for their minutes... I can't believe it, we can still realistically be the 6th seed!!

Honestly we can be anywhere between the 4th and 11th seed in the east.
