OT: Die-hard Fans & Homers

As a sports fan how long should you support your hometown team if they have been bad for an extended period of time? I ask myself when is enough is enough. I know the old school sports fan says "always support your hometown team but with teams like the Lions, Royals, Pirates, Clippers,(previously the Brewers) and Bucks who have been just mediocre for more than 10 years its hard to defend that argument. I don't like bandwagon or fair weather fans, but I think with franchises like the Bucks I can't get mad at someone who doesn't support them and chooses to leave.

I am only 21 and I wasn't around and can't remember the glory years of the 70s and 80s for the Bucks, so maybe this is why I'm so down on the Bucks. But when you say you don't support your hometown team and cheer another team, it seems like people respect you less as a sports fan.

I'm a second-year season ticket holder, and I'll be honest, it isn't easy wasting gas money to drive an hour to Milwaukee every week. I will continue to go to most home games, watch them whenever possible, and continue to get extremely pissed off. I'm just getting sick and tired of this franchise and its sugarcoating methods. The last thing this team needs is to get in to the playoffs 10-15 games under .500. It makes it less likely that changes will occur because they can say "HEY, WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS!!" This franchise is a joke from Herb Kohl down to Dan Gadzuric. All I know is that Brewer baseball can't come soon enough.

I rarely go to Bucks game anymore. They are quickly losing my support. They better start winning in the next few years or risk losing me as a fan.

And that winning probably won't come until Herb Kohl sells the team.

I have had my season tix for about 7 years now and have gradually reduced my package every year. My fiancee is a huge baseball fan and from Chicago so by default she is a Cubs fan. We have this little rivalry going and she wants me to give up my season tix for the Bucks for twop half season tix for the Crew. I honestly at this point think that would be a beter investment.

I have had some form of season tickets with the Bucks for 8 years now but this will be my last year. Only because I am moving. As bad as we are I would probably renew my season tickets just because if I wasnt at the Bradley Center watching the game I would be at home annoying my girlfriend by yelling at the T.V.

I still watch every road game and I still think in the back of my mind that when we win maybe we will start some un-believable winning streak!

I would lose close to all interest in the NBA. I am a homer to the extreme. If the team is not from WI, I can't support them.

I already watch the suns alot. I have family in arizona so ive always been split between the bucks and suns anyways

If the Bucks left town, I'd probably watch the Blazers and enjoy watching professional basketball again. Lord knows right now it's more of a chore than a delight.

It would affect me if the Bucks left town, but not to a great deal in the long run. I'd find some other way to spend the $ 1,200 per year that I currently put into season tickets.

I'd probably spend more money on other teams not in the MKE area (Illini Basketball, Bulls, Chicago Fire Soccer, Racing, etc).
