1) I wouldn't give Artest more than the MLE and I'd have all sorts of clauses worked into that contract so I could escape.
2) Marion would be foolish to opt out. Nobody will give him the sort of money he's currently making. That said it wouldn't be the first time some guy had an over inflated sense of self worth and opted out only to find the market wasn't quite what they thought it would be.

I can't believe some of you think Artest is going to get that kind of dough. Considering 1) He is a nutcase and 2) Is a ballhog on offense he will be LUCKY to get 8.5 a year. The likely senario is that he signs a Full MLE deal which will probably come out to 5 years 37 or so million with the team he wants to play for (Knicks or title contender)
