OT: Possible Kirilenko/Big Ben Swap?

It's on the front page of realgm...what the heck is this? Is the NBA trying to bail some teams out or something? Boston gets KG, Lakers get Gasol in lopsided trade, Miami goes from old crap to a team with a future, and now the Bulls would get this?

Yeah, I know Big Ben can still play and Kirilenko's contract isn't much friendlier than Big Ben's but wtf? I would take Kirilenko over Ben at this point easily. That improves the Bulls future outlook quickly.

If that is what Chicago is offering we should give the Jazz a beefy package if the Jazz just want rid of Kirilenko...if it is a big man they are looking for, then screw that I'm not giving them Bogut.

We know euro-soft Mehmet Okur and Boozer won't be able to do this...

I'm not a huge fan of the trade, but maybe the Jazz think they can free up more room for Korver, Millsap, Brewer, and Harpring, while getting better defensively at the center position as opposed to the sf-pf position? Debatable whether that would work, but I can see what they are trying.

sam smith (aka stupid sam, notorious for concocting ridiculous trade ideas) of the chicago tribune says that kirilenko is playing out of position at SF in utah (which may be true in a conference where andris biedrins is a center, but not in the east). big ben, in addition to being a bit of a destabilizing force and unnecessary for a team now looking to the future, has an even worse contract than kirilenko and has been losing PT to joakim noah (our starting center in waiting). aaron gray has also been a pleasant surprise at center as a second round pick. the trade would give the bulls the following long-term lineup

PG hinrich
SG sefolosha
SF deng/nocioni
PF kirilenko/tyrus thomas
C noah/gray

this assumes we would not be re-signing ben gordon or duhon. we would then have some financial flexibility

Very doubtful that this trade will happen, Utah are one of the hottest teams right now in the NBA and I can not see them messing with their starting 5

Said it in another thread, but again, Wallace and Duhon should go to Miami for Williams/Davis expiring deals. Opens up the front court for Noah and Thomas in Chicago while giving cap flexibility, and gives the Heat a legit starting 5. Then, the Heat can flesh out the roster with draft picks and excemptions.

Ben Wallace wouldn't be a good fit in Utah.
