Does Denver have a shot at the title?

Post#1 » by Awoooga » Mon Feb 11, 2008 1:50 am

I look at their team and I am amazed. They are built the right way. With Melo and AI you have two superstars who can score, Camby gives defensive presence and rebounding, Nene (when healthy) is a above average big man and Kleiza can shoot the if you leave him open.

I know the reponses I am going to get are "The West is deep" but I look at this team and there is no reason why they cannot beat any team in the NBA. I think this is the year the step it up in the playoffs and advance a round or two.

Hell no.

Nuggets play no d.

It would be purely luck if they make the playoff this season.

They have enough talent to beat any team in the league, so they definitely have a shot, but I wouldn't call them the favorite since they can be real erratic and inconsistent at times when compared to some of the other teams in the West.

Sure, as long as they play the Cavs in the Finals.

But neither of them will make it there, so no. No shot.

Not if they don't play any defense. Phoenix never won it with that style and currently they have Shaq which helps their interior defense and maybe he may affect their overall defense. They have Marcus Camby but team defense is different. If they don't have team defense, I say no.

they're 5th in the league in defensive efficiency.

yea...they may be inconsistent and they take quarters/games off on that end occasionally. but that's because of lack of focus/effort, which isn't an issue in the playoffs.

if you want to critique the team...talk about their lack of 3 point shooting and a consistent offense, because that's the real issue, and the real reason they lose 85% of the games they lose. kleiza/smith/atkins are the teams only real shooters...but i'm not sure kleiza's hit a shot in the playoffs, jr smith is always in karl's doghouse, and atkins is atrocious defensively and is currently injured. and they're 14th in the league in offensive efficiency.

No, that the Cavs are starting Eric Snow and Ira Newble, who wouldn't be in the NBA if they didn't have guaranteed contracts.

Seriously, his teammates are 14-48. That's sub-30% shooting. Take LeBron off the current roster giving these injuries, and the Cavs would be lucky to go 7-75.

Lebron hasn't exactly been killing the Nuggets. Every team in the league would rather let him go off than let him get his team mates involved, and thats what Denver has been doing for the most part.

Actually, as Karl has said, Denver is focused on stopping LeBron. LeBron's teammates stop themselves. Do you really think teams are worried about Eric Snow getting involved on offense? LOL! He's shooting like 18% from the field this year, 0% from 3, and 44$ from the foul line. That has to be an NBA record for a guy who actually starts.

When you have nobody other than LeBron that can hurt you at all it's actually rather easy to guard him. Snow has missed multiple point blank layups. it's just proof that he's basically a self check at this point in his career. And there are at least 2 complete non offensive threats on the floor with the injuries that the Cavs have now.

For as much as I can't stand a few of the Thuggets players, yes they absolutely have the talent to do it. They won't, but they should be better than they are.
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.
