They are terribly flawed because without Tony Battie, the Magic cannot seem to stop anyone in the paint. Chalk it up to guys out of position or too much offense on the floor, but the Magic need some beef and they know it. Otis Smith is as coy as they come about making deals, he never shows his cards and almost no one knows what he's really thinking

That's not right.
The CBA prevents teams from trading two consecutive future draft picks.
In other words, we would have to owe someone our 2009 1st rounder in order for this rule to take effect, because then they would be future consecutive picks.
I thought because Orlando traded their pick last year they couldn't trade their pick this year. Two consecutive years picks (2007 and 2008).

You can trade your pick every year if you just trade one per year, you just cant trade away say the 2008 and 2009 picks now.
You could trade the 2008 now, and after the 2008 draft, trade the 2009 because the 2008 is no longer a 'future pick'.
oh ok, thanks for clearing that up.

I would love to get Chris Wilcox or Udonis Haslem here. We'll have to wait and see if Otis pulls something. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if something happens at any moment, but I wouldn't be shocked if we did nothing either. I think Otis will do a trade if it makes sense, but he's not going to break the bank to force a deal.

Seriously if your not going to bring in a player that will help you challenge the Celtics and Pistons then I really don't want to hear about it. Nothing against Joe Smith but this team won't go any further in the playoffs because they added Joe Smith.

i said this in another thread, but i think CV would be great here. he tore it up in toronto next to bosh. i know how everyone says this player and this player would be perfect next to dwight. but i dont think any one would be better than cv. he has had experience next to a big guy like dwight and feeds off of him as well.

I think Villaneuva would be solid here too, it seems people are looking more for a low post banging defensive presence who will gobble up rebounds, however I believe while most think CV is soft, he can rebound well enough and he has some serious range, which is exactly what we need next to Dwight, to pull off the opposing teams pf and keeping Dwight from being double teamed so easily.

I've liked most of what Otis has done. The only move I hated was trading Ariza, and that worked out pretty well for us.
I've hated almost every move Otis has made as GM except trading Ariza. I have feeling that exactly the kind of move Otis will make. That Otis as a former player hates trading players and instead of making a real blockbuster that could challenge the Celtics and Pistons will instead settle for a small deal for a marginal player and hope the players on board are good enough.

I think if Tony were healthy we would be just fine. We would be wanting an upgrade at point guard, but Howard needs some help inside and you can't start Foyle because you need him to spell Howard. I think Haslem is the best out there because of his salary and the length of his contract and he is exactly the type of player you need, but if they want us to take on a bad contract then it's probally not a good idea. Outside of that we should do a small trade to get us a banger. I just think that Philly would be our best trade partner because the fans in Philly love Jameer and I would think that they would be interested, but it would probally have to be a multi player trade. Probally Jameer and JJ for Dalembert would be great in my opinion but I'm not sure we could get that done, and I don't know if salaries match up.

why would we trade jameer..you want to upgrade the pg..trading jameer would make us significantly worse..i thought the last 2 jameer games would show how much better he is..look at it..28 pts 17 assist 1 turnover total last two games
Play Jase or Trade for Alvarado

I agree with you there on his trade, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to put Jameer in a trade that involves Andre Miller(and Reggie Evans).

I don't think there is a drop off at point guard if we trade Jameer. I think Carlos and Dooling are just as good. I would trade him for Dalembert because to have Howard and Dalembert next to each other is formidable in my opinion. I don't see Jameer as the solution to our point guard solution. I don't think Carlos is better I just don't think he is worse. Eventually I would hope to upgrade the point guard another way. If we had an injury we would be short a the point guard spot, but we could probally find a back up somewhere.

Nelson has looked great over the last 2 games. To me it is all about consistency with him. If he could give us great play, like he has over the past 2 games, 75 games a year, then he would be fine for us as the starting PG. He has had a lot to deal with this year and IMO I think he will come back stronger next year.

We dump our expirings, gives LA a point gaurd so they can buy out Cassell or trade. We upgrade at the two and Thomas would backup Lewis.
Our rotation would smooth out. JJ might actually see some time backing up Maggette, Evans could back up Turk. Clippers aren't going to be doing anything this year, they could really use the expirings to be in the free agent hunt this summer.

Lovehoops you definetly called me out first and have many times so dont play the victim.
Also i didnt only mention Kurt Thomas to sign for the minimum, i also noted Doleac and Ratliff and i was saying whoever we can get, yet you guys twist it and make it seem like i only said Kurt.
Regardless though its your opinion against mine, so stop trying to condemn what i say and act like your opinion is almighty. I respect your OPINION that we cant get these guys, but your coming across as a total smuck.
There IS a chance one those guys can sign for the minimum.
There IS a chance we can get Childress or Maggette for the MLE.
And there IS a chance we can get Kidd in a couple years.
Again differing opinions buddy, but dont act like you know all, it is not a good trait to have in life.
