2007 draft re-done

Post#1 » by dbodner » Mon Feb 11, 2008 3:15 am

These guys were taken over Thad. At this point, how many of them would you rather have had than Thad?

oden
Durant
Horford
Conley
Jeff Green
Yi
Brewer
Brandan Wright
Noah
Hawes
Law

I would say 3 definites in Oden, Durant, and Horford and one "maybe" in Brandan Wright. Yi, Conley, and Green have a chance to develop into better players but I think Noah, Hawes, Law, and Brewer will not.

As someone on ESPN said on draft night (and a lot of us here believed) Thad probably would have been a top 5 pick in the '08 draft.

for me, I'd probably take:
oden
durant
Horford
Conley

Virtually even:
Brandan Wright
Jeff Green

I still believe in Brandan Wright, even if he's off to that tough start. Likewise, I'm not sold on Yi, even though he started off strong (but has really cooled since).

That's It.

Oden will be great(if his injuries don't slow him down) Even so, he's a serviceable big at worst.

Durant is the star of the draft.

Horford will be solid, not a HOF type player, but solid.

Yi is a nice asset. I don't see him becoming the next Dirk or anything, but he'll also be solid.

Young is solid, and has the potential to be the 2nd-3rd best player out of this draft.

It will probably be another two years before we know how these guys turn out. I think all of them could be good NBA players. Young ceiling may be higher than some of the players ahead of him.

Regardless, it seems like a good pick.

I mentioned that Brandan Wright is a player that we should try to acquire between now and draft night but the GSW board is really high on this guy. If GSW's management feels remotely close to this way than we don't have a shot.

I still think Wright has a chance to develop into the All-Star PF that he was thought of at UNC and so I would love to get the guy.

Oden, Durant, Horford, Conley, and then Thad. Yi can play a little, but he's seriously overrated. Green has a decent game, but I wouldn't take him over Young....and despite being just about 60% into their rookie years Noah, Brewer, Wright, Hawes, or Law haven't really lived up to their pre-draft hype.

Oden, Durant, and Horford would be no-brainers. Conley, I'd also take before Thad since, in addition to providing a PG for the next decade, having him would make Miller expendable. And I might take Yi over Thad, on account of his financial value.

But compared with Brewer, B. Wright, Noah, Hawes, and Law, Thad's looking pretty good. And I'd probably take him over Green as well, given his upside.

On the flip side, I'd consider taking Sean Williams over Thad. Wouldn't go as far as to say that he'd make Dalembert expendable, but you could at least consider dealing him for an expiring and a draft pick if Williams was on the team.

This is one thing I never understood. Why would you, the fan, care? Is his financial impact going to clear room under the cap? How does he make us better basketball wise? It's not like comcast is el cheapo and won't spend up to the cap, and getting him allows them to spend more.

Maybe they could buy 1st round picks every year Portland style? Maybe even pay the tax? Not sure how much of an effect it would have...

My biggest redo for the Sixers draft would be to keep Koponen and Fesenko...otherwise, I think they made great choices with the first two choices.

Oden would have been nice.

I agree on Koponen and Fesenko. They got too cutesy with those picks.

Byars is a bust. Hill may be a bust.

So yeah we definitely should have kept Koponen(I was happy when we got him, pissed when we traded him).

Oden, Durant, Horford. Possibly Green and Thornton who was after Thad.

That is it.
