Why is Jamario Moon so hyped up?

Post#1 » by pr0wler » Mon Feb 11, 2008 3:28 am

...he's currently #3 in the Rookie Rankings on NBA.com, but only averaging 8.1 PPG in 28.5 MPG. What's the big deal?

Hes the best thing thats happened to Toronto since VC. (When it comes to athleticism). He's also a good defender.

Scoring isn't the only measure of a player's effectiveness; he's been a very good rebounder and defender for us and is, of course, and athletic and exciting finisher.

He's an undrafted 28 yr old and he's a starter on his rookie year for god's sake. I mean what are the odds? that just about explains it.

He has been in potentially every league possible, and he finally made it to the NBA and made an impact to the Raptors. That's probably the biggest reason although he is also playing well.

Heh, yes, another example of NBA.com's never-ending quest to hype Raptors players...

If you look at those rankings, it's fairly clear that Moon and Scola rate highly because they are starting on good teams; Yi and Jeff Green are well down on the totem pole, and I suspect that is partially because both Seattle and Milwaukee have struggled mightily.

I heard ESPN loves em' too. That 1 nationally televised game was awful generous.

Hyped? but but but.. Moon was shown last on the dunk advertisement on TV, Dwight, Green, Gay then Moon..if he is that hyped he should go first.

I'm sure everyone loves the Raptors, and wants to hype them like no tommorow.

Can't believe ESPN took off the Raps vs. Spurs game tommorow night :nonono: . They can show Miami but not Toronto? Wow.

out of this year's rookies he's ranked:
#1 in steals per game
#2 in blocks per game
#2 in boards per game
#3 in efficiency

yeah, i'd say his #3 rookie ranking is justifiable..

I know, we're really overexposed at this point. From what I hear, depending on the match-up, our playoff games might even by featured on the crawl at the bottom of the screen, while ESPN shows re-runs of slalom skiing.

Unless of course we play Cleveland in the first round, in which case our players might be seen in the periphery of camera shots.

well really who wants to watch the raps play a watered down version of the Suns two years ago?

I suspect untill Bosh changes his hairstyle to something that doesn't scream nappy headed ho he won't get any love from Don Imus or ESPN

He's not that good. A decent rebounder and defender, some nice highlight dunks, that's it. He's Renaldo Balkman's less hairy equal. If he's the third best rookie then this rookie class SUCKS.

On a team with as many very capable shooters as the Raptors, the fact that he's on the floor for that many minutes is a testament to his contributions elsewhere.

He's not a scorer, so that might be why he seems overrated. His contributions come from everywhere else. For a rookie, he's a great defender.

Among Rookies:
-2nd in rebounds
-2nd in blocks
-1st in steals

Yeah, so he doesn't shoot the highest percentages but hey--Durant is at the top of the list :P

1. His last name is Moon
2. He's a 28 year old rookie who's been all over the minor leagues
3. He's a starter
4. He's got crazy dunks and will be competing in the dunk contest

He's got a gimmick. Sort of like Birdman did (except Moon is a better player).

His name is Jamario Moon, that's why. Jamario. Moon. Imagine yourself with that name... jealous? Thought so. He's also the best thing to happen to Toronto since Pape Sow. Lol @ whoever said Vince Carter.

Note: I'm not comparing Jamario to Pape as that would be a disgrace to the omnipotent, shapeshifting divine being that is Pape Sow.
