So what are Brand's chances of opting out?
As of right now this will just be a bunch of blind guesses because it's only February and we don't know how Brand will respond but I think realistically maybe 10-20%? I'm just an outsider so I wanted some opinions from the clipper fan base.

It's widely believed that he will not opt out this summer. Does he sign an extension over the summer or waits until his current deal expires? We'll have to wait and see. The owner has said that he desires to re-sign Brand and that he's worth every penny so that is a plus. I'm a little concerned that if the trade (Suns/Heat) goes through and Marion does not re-sign with the Heat that they may heavily pursue Brand.

how much and how well brand plays will heavily determine whether he opts out or not. if he comes back and looks anywhere close to the same elton brand you can bet your ass he's going to opt out.
considering the clippers have brand's bird rights, it's more of a matter if brand will take less money to play elsewhere. brand currently lives in an ideal location to further his second career as a movie producer/director and much like oj mayo, brand can be face of a franchise in los angeles or he could be another guy in miami following big men such as alonzo mourning and shaq.

i honestly don't really know, but Elton has repeatably said that he likes how Donald sterling has the desire to win now and for some reason I don't think he will leave LA on a sour note, which is being injured all season long. Elton has class and he will be with us next year. The Donald will sign him to a max contract and I believe we might see a different team next year, but Elton will stay. Maggette is the one player that will more than likely opt-out.

As a warriors fan i'd have to say i'd love to see maggette and brand opt out...
no pun intended to the clips organization...lol but we'd take either of them with open arms...ESPECIALLY BRAND....
But im sure the whole league would love to see that happen.
Clips were looking great going forward, injuries really hit hard.

I doubt Brand to opt out to his contract unless a team of his liking will have a cap space to resign him this summer. It

Why?in that case it looks like elton is staying w/ the clippers.
Because they have Thronton instead of Iggy?
Because they have Kaman instead of Dalembert?
Because they have Maggette (if he doesn't opt out) instead of Miller?
Becvause they have Mobley, Tim Thomas & Knight instead of Thad Young, Smith & Carney?
Or its because the Clipps owner is more generous?

I do not understand the reasoning either. Philadelphia also plays in the East, Elton would have a better chance to succeed.
As far as opting out, I do no think that he will consider it. The Sixers have just roughly cleaned up 10 mio. and that is certainly not enough. If the Sixers want to make a serious run they have to obtain Brand by a sign-and-trade. The Sixers might have even the pieces to make it work.
