My rant against TSN

Post#1 » by supersub15 » Mon Feb 11, 2008 2:04 pm

I'm really ticked. I don't expect much from TSN, or any other sports broadcaster for that matter, with regards to basketball. I know that bball highlights usually have to wait for all the hockey stuff, and I'm fine with that. I also expect a hockey event to trump a Raptors game, just like Sportsnet did to the Raptors last night, but what TSN did last night was just mind-boggling.

So, after watching a movie (following the blowout), I wanted to check the other scores, specifically the Washington vs. Phoenix game. It was late and I didn't want to sit at my computer again, so I tuned into TSN to check their ticker. I got the NHL scores, then it flashed NBA with the Toronto score. Fine. But that was it. The ticker flicked back to the NHL scores again. Now, I would like to thank TSN for showing me the Toronto vs. Minnesota score, that was a nice touch. But where the **** are the other scores? I had to switch to The Score and wait for all their College scores, NHL scores, EPL scores, and what have you, until I got what I was looking for.

This is beyond pathetic.

What did Sportsnet show during the time slot originally sloted for the Rap-Wolves game?

You actually had to change the channel?

I think you should certainly issue a formal complaint with the CRTC (http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/welcome.htm. Hopefully this deserves a "code red" status, and they can create a personal television channel for you. If you had to wait more than half an hour for your scores, I think a class-action suit is in order.

As a mod, do you not recall the dozens, if not hundreds of threads complaining about the sequencing on our sports TV stations? Is this really necessary considering some of the borderline OT threads that get locked?

Thank Jesus for the score because without them we would see little if not any college hoops & scores in this country apart from March Madness.

I've wondered why TSN does'nt just rename it's 1st 15 minutes every nite as Hockey Desk.

Assuming ALL "Canadians" want to see all the hockey hi-lites before anything else is just simply pigheaded. If the policy is majority rules then I guess we are living in the dark ages.

Even watching a Sportsnet or TSN Raptor broadcast & having to take interim hockey update breaks in between is a real piss off for me.Putting the shoe on the other foot you'd have hockey fans in an uproar if they had to be informed about what was happening on the NBA ticker.

People actually use TSN to get their basketball information?

I haven't watched TSN/Sportsnet ever since The Score came along, really. God bless Tim Micallef!

I don't. I just wanted a quick scan of the final scores before going to bed and thought that it would be faster to watch TSN's ticker, since - I thought - they only show NHL and NBA scores, whereas The Score shows all kinds of other sports, including college bball scores, which take forever to scroll.

Learned my lesson.

Only good thing about TSN right now is they have let the leafs go a bit...usually they clog the first 15 minutes.

TSN is a joke for calling themselves Canada's sports leader.

Their NFL coverage is very good I'll give them that. Jesse Palmer is a very solid analyst. But where is the post game stuff for the Raptors? They make a feature on Toronto once a month. Sportsnet at least makes an effort with Barry Davis and Jack Armstrong talking Raptors ball once a week(unless they canned that segment, I'm not sure).

How long does it take for the Score to run through their entire ticker? It can't be that long. Anyway, if you are interested in just scores, sometimes CP24 could be the answer. At this time of the year, they just have NBA and NHL, although sometimes their scores aren't always up to date.

Haha, I pretty much only watch The Score as well. They cover a lot more than just hockey, and they actually show box scores n whatnot after game highlights. Sportsnet and TSN USUALLY only show boxscores for hockey, and Raptors games. Plus, The Score has a much better ticker and better personalities.

Adnan the Baller and Timmy Mc are the best personalities on the score even though the others are funny they never talk nor know much about ball. as for TSN and Sportsnet the only thing they are good for are HD channels. Does anyone else have the Source cable? they cant even get The Score or Raps TV in High Def!!!

Return to Toronto Raptors
