I probably haven't been more excited about watching the stretch run of an NBA season in a while. With that being said, I can't wait to watch the Western conference playoffs.
You have...
San Antonio - Defending Champs
Phoenix - Now has Shaq
LA - A contender once again with Gasol
Dallas - Same team in the finals 2 years ago
Utah - Always tough
Golden State
Houston - Can T-mac finally get passed the 1st round?
Denver - Iverson/Melo
New Orleans
The West is as good as it's ever been. 5.5 games seperate the top 8 teams. Then you look over at the East, while it's not near what the West is. There are 2 teams who are capable of taking down anyone in the West in Boston and Detroit.
As always, I still like San Antonio's chances.
San Antonio defeats Detroit in 7.

The brutal competition thee is in the West means that the winner of the East (Boston/Detroit) are clearly favoties for the title...With all the competitiveness there is in the West, the winner of the west finals will be a lot more tired than the winner of the east...Imagine Phoenix as no.1 play Denver or Houston, then LA or San Antonio, and then Dallas or NO...These are all possble game 7s...The eastern conference playoffs starts in the conference finals, or, if LeBron plays a series like he did last year vs DET, in the semi-finals, anyway, after 52 of 82 games vs west opponents, a tough run to end the regular season, and very tough playoffs with 16-21 games to play, the Western conference champion is going to be very tired...

Not only they would have been 7th in the East, but they are 13-9 vs. the East and 10-17 vs. the West. If they were in the East, they would have played 52 out of 82 regular season games vs. East opponents, so at the moment if they would have 27 games vs. East and 22 vs. West, they would have been a .500 team. At the end of the season, they would have with the record they have now, a 31-21 record vs. the East and a 11-19 vs. the West, a 42-40 season. If we do the standings imagining 41 games vs. the East and 41 vs the West for every team in th league, we will find out that the difference between West and East is even bigger than we think.

It will be interesting to see how Bynum and Pau will fit together, because they are similar in certain things...If they fit well, the Lakers are going to go to the Finals.
