OT: Emeka Okafor
is averaging 16 points and 16 rebounds the last 5 games. Geez if this guy can stay healthy and put up these numbers we need him.

I don't know what thread it was but we talked about this (I was saying the same thing you are). If you look at the Bobcats' summer last year... they threw big money at Gerald Wallace and severely overpaid for Matt Carroll. They also traded for Jason Richardson's large contract so the question is... why wouldn't they be willing to pay the max ($13MIL) for Emeka??? I think they would especially now that he's showing that he can stay healthy and is coming on strong.

Now that Gasol is gone and Brand will be a huge injury questionmark, I think Okafor has to be the main target...whether or not they can land him is another question. Unless someone else becomes available via a trade, Okafor is the best option that is semi-available. I'd be shocked if Charlotte didn't match any deal.

As much as I dislike Okafor (It's a Syracuse thing) I would love to have him on this team, but the posibility of getting him is slim to none.
Walk the city lonely
Memories that haunt are passing by
A murderer walks your streets tonight
Forgive me for my crimes;don't forget that I was so young
Fought so scared in the name of God and Country

Have loved his game since I used to play against him in highschool.
Probably much more obtainable than Okafor too. He'd be a nice fit anywhere really, he has a lot of upside I just hope he keeps it up and doesn't get too confident and slack off.
That being said if we could get him I'd be extrememly happy but I never get my hopes up for anything that good too happen.

What happens if we thorw the max at him? I don't think Bobcats will pay him Max money.
But would you really want to throw the max at Okafor? I really hope Ed don't consider that option. He's not a max player. Not even close right now. Those are the type of deals that set you back big-time. Yes, it would help in the immediate future, but that contract would likely kill us long term. Max contracts should be reserved for the best of the best.
How much of an impact does Okafor really have with his current team? Sure you can say it's Charlotte and they stink, but I would argue without him, they still have as much talent as us. Felton is a decent PG, noting great but average...maybe a notch or 2 below Miller. Wallace is probably a slightly better player than Iguodala right now...call that about even. Richardson is far better than anything we have at SG. Both out benches are mostly garbage or young players. I would say we stack up pretty close talent wise, so seeing as how the Bobcats suck with Okafor, how much better would we be with him? I'd be very scared at thowing big $$ his way.

What about Sammy? The don't even have a Center that's why Okafor is playing out of position. Plus I would rather have Carney, Young, and Jason Smith then Matt Carrol which is there only good bench player. To say we are equal talent wise is a very far fetched statement.
