Don't expect the Dallas Mavericks to make a play for Nets' point guard Jason Kidd before next week's trading deadline, according to ESPN.com's news services.

"For us to make the numbers work in a deal like that, we'd have to trade away half the team," Cuban told The New York Daily News on Monday. "We're not doing that, so it just doesn't work. And, we like our team. We've got a lot of room for improvement and we hope to get better. But right now, I just don't see anything happening." [READ]

This sounds like to me that no trade for kidd will happen. The mavs may be in Nash mode to not take on an older PG despite the pain from losing nash.

Everyone knew that a Dallas- New Jersey deal couldnt happen salary wise... Thats why so many 3 team trades were proposed... I dont think theres anyone left on the board that suspects a Kidd to Dallas trade to happen

yeah, trade for artest it would be cheaper
