Would you sign Larry Brown next year?
Larry Brown has that itch again......he's sniffing around Atlanta and he also may want to coach the 6ers. Would you guys be ok with him coaching this team next year? I would love it even if it's only for 2 years. Larry Brown has forgotten more about bball than Sam Vincent will ever know. We need to get a guy in here that can coach these young players before they become too old and don't care anymore. The players don't play hard for Vincent like they did for Bernie and he isn't a good X's and O's coach.......so what good is he? If they hate him it's ok.......but they have to respect him. Larry Brown will teach this team how to play......he will teach Felton, May, Morrison, Okafor, Wallace, Rich, etc how to play the game the right way.

Well I can tell you one thing, if LB was the coach now, Raymond would not have been chucking up those ridiculous shots at the end of the game tonight. And if either he or JVG were coach, you know the opposing team wouldn't be merrily prancing into the lane unchecked every night. There would be players knocked on their asses.

I don't think this organization can afford to take on too many more UNC people. A good portion of our problems can be traced back to them already.
Having said that, I liked Brown as a coach. But I'm sure we could find better options. He's too wishy-washy, and we don't need to go after someone that is only going to work out one or two seasons until he gets bored and wants to move on.

Why is that? You say no to Brown but yes to Silas?
Silas is 64 years old. He's been a head coach for barely 10 years and during that time, he coached 4 different teams. Apparently wearing out his welcome at each stop. He has 321 coaching wins while Larry Brown has 931. But it's no to LB and yes to Silas? How come?

Being from Philly, I saw first hand what he does to a team and the horrable condition he left the sixers in. He is one of the main reasons I stopped being a sixers fan. Add to that the job he did in NY and the condition he left that team in and that is my reason. Plus he doesn't play young players and he loses interest very fast. He would tear this team apart fast then Sam is trying to.
I say yes to Silas because I think he is well liked in Charlotte from his days with the Hornets and think the team will respect him. They do not respect Sam. Plus he is black and that seems very important with this organization.
I also think JVG would be a great option but doubt that would happen

Horrible condition he left the Sixers in?

He took over a team that was 22-60 in 96-97!!!!!!!
Larry Brown in Philly
1.31-51
2.28-22 (Strike Year) Won a playoff series
3.49-33 Won a playoff series
4.56-26 Lost in the NBA FINALS to Shaq and Kobe
5.43-39 Lost in first round of playoffs with a crappy injury riddled team
6.48-34 Won a playoff series
Record in Philly 255-205 and won 28 playoff games
Also Philly had terrible drafts during his tenure and the only quality young player was Iverson which he played!
So how the heck did he leave the Sixers in "horrible condition?" If anything, he taught your best player HOW TO WIN!
Add to that the job he did in NY and the condition he left that team in and that is my reason.
Oh right, the job in NY that God himself couldn't even coach. Get outta here with that NY crap. Look at them now! The only thing he did wrong in NY was going there in the first place.
Plus he doesn't play young players and he loses interest very fast. He would tear this team apart fast then Sam is trying to.
Huge myth about Brown regarding young players. He doesn't play an undeserving Darko and all of a sudden everyone said he can't coach young players. But what about Tayshaun Prince? He played him and played him a lot! In NY, Channing Frye had his best season under Brown! In Philly, what young players other than AI which he played a lot, were deserving to get more burn on a team trying to win a championship?

So now we're hiring coaches to be friendly with the players? Sam is black, and they don't respect him. Silas is also a strict disciplinarian. Okafor has problems with SV criticizing him, how do you think Okafor would respond if Silas who is a tyrant in a basketball sense, would clobber Mek on a daily basis?
I also think JVG would be a great option but doubt that would happen
About the only thing we agree on, but money talks and if MJ steps up, JVG could definitely be the coach here. Of course thats if he's not burned out on coaching.

Dude, I am not going to get in a pissing war with you about LB. Iverson did play well under him, but he was thrown under the bus everytime the team lost. LB did teach him alot, but it caused headaches. He drafted horrable then traded those guys away because they didn't work with AI (Stackhouse, Larry Hughes (instead of Paul Pierce), KVH, Tim Thomas, Speedy Claxton). Plus horrable FA signings or trades like Toni Kukoc, Kenny Thomas, Derrick Coleman and Glenn Robinson, and the trade that killed the franchise with getting Mutumbo. That got them to the finals, but the huge long term contract that LB gave him killed the teams cap. He rewarded his hard working team with long term big money contracts after they were over the hill. Aaron McKie(still on the books), George Lynch, Ty Hill and reupping Mutumbo.
The not playing young player "myth" that you think started with Darko (that actually wasn't LB, Dumars wanted Darko, LB wanted Carmelo) goes back to when LB was in Indiana and didn't play Jalen Rose. As soon as LB left Rose became a superstar. And goes as current as D.Lee in NY (Frye did play and do well)
I am not pushind for Silas or any other coach, I hate Sam and most likely would stop being a fan if LB gets involved. That is my opinion and my fealings.
Name 1 team other then Detroit or Indiana (both teams that he stabbed in the back) that went to the playoffs within 3 years of LB leaving? Philly?, NY?, San Antonio? Clippers? Nuggets? Nets? None!
I know he is loved because he is a Carolina guy, but he is not what this team needs
