Richard Jefferson

Post#1 » by TyCobb » Mon Feb 11, 2008 8:54 pm

Hey Nets fans, I was just wondering what you guys think of RJ (as well as the Nets organization) and if you think he's happy in New Jersey.

Is he available? The face of the franchise?

Just want to know what you guys think of Lamar Odom as well. If you can't see where this leads, well here it is:

Lamar Odom for Richard Jefferson.

:)

But yeah, I just want to know your thoughts, and if it's realistic or other pieces would have to be involved.

PS. Bynum, Kobe, Pau, and Farmar are off limits.

Thanks guys!

RJ is a scorer and Lamar is a playmaker. In the nets' current state I dunno which one we need more. But i'd take a lamar for RJ swap. But given lamar's propensity to injury i'd ask for cash considerations since there's noone else on the lakers to really consider. We know the untouchables. As for the nets, there are no untouchables.

If carter can stay aggressive, i dont relaly see the need for lamar since he can create for anybody on the team. but it would help him keep it going if he had someone to pass to that can do something besides shoot.

I'd do it if we were to start the rebuilding process this year. The sole reason i'd do it is because jefferson has the longer contract and him being 28 and all doesnt helpp either, if he were a couple years younger i'd rebuild around him but...

PS: nobody wants farmar so you don't have to label him ''off limits'' :)

I like RJ significantly more than Odom. I am very open to trading RJ but I would need a GREAT deal for me to do it. Kidd and Carter need to go given age and contracts, but Jefferson is a guy we can keep around for a while and wait for a trade in our favor to come along. I'm also not against keeping Jefferson the length of his contract.

It think I would do a RJ, Magloire and Malik Allen swap for Odom and Radman, start Odom at the 4 and Rad at the 3, and then try to trade VC for a legit PF/C like JO, Brand or Nene and JR Smith.

Although this would be one of the most injury prone teams in a while of the NBA.

I think its a fair trade and I would do it. I think Odom would give us a different look. J Kidd has led this team in rebounds for how long now? Too long in my opinion. We need someone who can rebound now. We have to start taking some chances. Like Jeff said his contract is up after next season. We would have to major contracts coming off the cap at the same time to start reworking the roster.

Eh, not really interested in Odom.

He's been available for a while anyway... and isn't really consistent enough to replace a guy like RJ. However.... imagine the ball movement on a team with Kidd / VC / Odom!

I agree with Stone. I would take the shot. Matter of fact I think I take the shot even if you are going to trade Kidd in the offseason or let him expire.

On top of this, besides the fact he is injury prone, odom is just as good a player as RJ.

As good as RJ is, and I think a lot of non Nets fans severly underrate him he is not really your cornerstone which you build your franchise around if you are going to blow it up and trdae Kidd and VC in the Offseason, and as Stone stated Odom's contract is much shorter.

Odom plays basically as good defense, is an extremely better rebounder, better playmaker and passer period, has more size, but is much less of a scorer and maybe worse decision maker. And although truly a lenghty 3 he can play the 4.

And at the same time RJ would probrbaly fit in better with the Lakers.

I think RJ is better than Odom but Odom would probably fit us better because our froncourt right now is overpowering and Odom would be a big boost with his playmaking ability esp. assist-wise. I think Boone, Sean and Nenad will be more effective esp. Sean, he'd eb a monster! ^^

I think this is a goos trade all the way around. As a Laker fan, I would counter-offer with RJ, Magloire, Armstrong for Odom, Radmanovic. Malik Allen would get lost in our big man rotation once everyone is healthy, especially if we are also getting Magloire in this deal. Armstrong would be a great veteran presence and he would fill the third PG slot, which was vacated when Crittenton was traded to MEM.

RJ/Magloire/Armstrong for Odom/Radmanovic

Thoughts?

LA's already getting the best player in the deal. NJ isn't going to engage in the charity of taking Vlad Rad as well.

Isn't Radman a Boki on a terrible and long contract ? Why would NJ want that ?

No Radman is better than Boki.
Radman playing with Kidd would be even better.
Radman would start, and Boki could still give that huge boost off the bench.

Could we get Armstrong too? I honestly think his veteran presence could be a valuable piece to the Lakers this year.

Odom for RJ/Armstrong
