Somewhat OT: Speaking of mods...
How does one become a mod in the 1st place? Is there some type of mod certification program? I mean I'm sure some of these people that "moderate" are little kids. I can't imagine them filling out an application with their "mod" experience/job experience, and relevant references, etc.
What are the qualifications to be a mod? I don't really see the point in being a mod unless you get enjoyment from actually being able to utilize your power. When you think about it, there really isn't anything on this board that warrants a "ban" since all of these people are complete strangers.
I am really fascinated by the psychology behind the hyper-sensitivity level of forums in general. Unless someone posts a threat with your address preceding it, then someone being called a jerk (not that it's right, but you get the point), or trash talking, or whatever is just expression. Words carry the weight people allow them to carry. This whole forum, as well as others is laced with subjective interpretation anyways. I guess I am just curious as to what the "big deal" is when it comes to moderating.
If people were getting paid, I guess I could understand it. I.e., advertisers pay to play here and those same advertisers get hesitant if they see bickering amongst board members. Quite frankly, I think those bickering board members are the very demographic the advertisers would want to market to anyways, so still, I ask, what is the justifcation behind the "over-moderating" that is so prevalent on forums like ths?
Who can I interview with to be a mod? I don't want to be a regular mod, I want to be on eo those mods that can do special tricks like make your post seem like its from someone else, permanently alter your font, etc. I am qualified enough, I believe...have worked on 7 figure saving projects. So please, someone show where I can sign up for the power?

I used to think you were joking. Sure, the The Urban Zealot and Anjonez always sounded kind of similar. But, this sounds exactly like a classic Anjonez thread. Joking aside, I really think they are the same person.
As for moderators, I've never seen one abuse his or her power. Also, I don't think I've seen what The Urban Zealot calls "over-moderating" (but I don't go to other boards very often). I think that being a moderator is less about being power-hungry than it is about doing a service to a community you're invested in.

Hmm...
The guy is just giving a trade proposal, give him a break. As far as his sig, who the f--- cares? It' just a damn signature, it's from a funny TV show.
My God, the level of anal-retentiveness from some of the people on here is beyond reason. Why are some of you guys so sensitive about things like typed words, or pictures, especially when no one is being harmed, no one is being threatened?
I swear we need to have 2 RealGM's. One for regular, down to earth silly people. And one for anal-retentive, "i -have- to -play- online- crusader -and correct -improper socio-political conduct, albeit, it's all relative to MY OWN subjective interpretation" individuals. And make it a paid membership so you can only keep the "digitally aflluent"
Please, this online crusader s--t is getting out of hand, no one is harming a soul with these posts. Will it take an act of contrition after every post just to prove harmless intent? You guys are taking the fun out of posting...
Now, I'm sure that if anyone had enough patience to read through both of these posts you'll see some siliarities.
And now I'm guessing this clown is going to call me out for taking 2 minutes to find something to quote. He'll think about saying something like, I must not get any females or that I'm a racist for trying to get rid of him.
Isn't that you m/o Jonez? Calling people racists for liking white players?
Or are you going to continue to play dumb, and act coy like you haven't a clue what I'm talking about.

LOL... oh my god, i have found the loony bin! For awhile I thought it was just some harmless inside joke, but you are obviously dead serious! What in sam's name are you talking about? Now listen, I have heard a lot of crazy stuff on the internet, but to insist that someone is someone else because their "posting style" is similar is absolutely nuts. Dude, there are a gazillion people on the internet. Are you telling me out of all of the people that are on the internet, you are convinced I am someone?
Holy crap you are weird. I mean, no offense man, but it's not like I should have to justify why I am "NOT" someone else. I've read these boards for awhile, and one day figured I'd hop in. Now I don't know if you are having some psychological issue or whatever, but it's getting kind of creepy.
Every 5 times I post there is always a comment like i'm some other guy. Mods, can something be done about this? The joke (at least I thought it was a joke) is obviously not one, and quite frankly, it's starting to weird me out a little bit...

I agree that there is a hyper-sensitive, paranoid element to this board. For instance, i've seen some posters make a simple crack about the team relocating, then others will come on telling them to hit the door and that they're scorned for life. Seems that some take this posting about sports business quite seriously.
