And that's pretty sad for someone touted as one of the few good pass first PGs left in the league. I understand he's put up some pretty nice stats over the past week or so, but what else am I missing?

I would trade Miller for Calderon any day of the week for now or the future.

and we would be firmly planted in the lottery so if thats what you want then hey go fire NBA live 2008 on the playstation and get it done. By the way who would calderon pass the ball to...we can't shoot. and he can't create his own shot like Andre. So i'm sorry that i disagree but he is just not good fit here. he would be backing up lou..and you know its true.hey that rhymes.

Calderon will be 27 years old before the start of next season. Arenas just turned 26 on January 6th. Calderon is NOT a young player...

I love the way everyone focuses on Calderon's offensive skills. You can't take it away from him that he can shoot & pass the basketball. Can he play a lick of defense? In that regard he's not a bit better than Miller & he doesn't have the post-up game. I'm on board with trading Miller for the right price but I'm also in agreement with the poster who suggests signing Miller to a 2-3 year extension at 7+ million if he's not traded. I'd stay away from Calderon. This team needs a shooter & if it doesn't try to sign Arenas hopefully one of the young guards like Mayo, Bayless, or Gordon will fall to us. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen.

I don't think it has anything to do with excitement. Andre Miller doesn't make the All Star team every year because he isn't good enough to make it. For guards you have Kidd,Wade,Rip,Billups and Joe Johnson. Which of those guys should he have made it over?

When he was in the West there were guards like Kobe,Nash,Parker, etc.,, all guys that are better than him.

you have no ideea about basketball dude.calderon just throw the ball to parker, kapono, bosh kapono etc and they are all very good shooters and that's how calderon pick up his assists while andre miller needs to dish the ball to willie green and reggie evans.andre miller is a much much better and complex pg than calderon will ever be.

I'm going to have to chalk this up to you speaking about a player you have watched very little. Calderon is one of the most creative passers in the NBA. Think Steve Nash in the way he can drive and kick (thowing some crazy angle passes). I have seen a ton of high degree of difficulty passes that very few NBA PG's can make.

There's no other PG in the league who shoots with higher %'s than Calderon. The guy leads NBA PG's in FG% (54%), FT% (92%) and Assist/Turnover rate. He's 3rd in PG's for 3 pt FG% (46%) behind only Nash and Daniel Gibson. That 3pt FG% is better than most NBA players from 2 pt range. His FG% is actually 13th best of ALL players in the NBA (at least 7 of those guys are C's).

I love how everyone thinks a guy is just an average player because he doesn't average 20+ PPG. Calderon is have a WAY better season than Kidd....not even close. Actually, Kidd is a joke with his FG% of 36%. I'm not going to argue his D is not great, but let's not kid ourselves, Miller and Arenas are both poor on D too.

People say he doesn't take over games...so what, he doesn't need to. He plays with a stud PF and his job is to be a distributer just like Nash. As a starter, Calderon averages almost as many assists as Nash but yet he has half the turnovers Nash does. I guess Nash is just an overrated PG too since he plays with all that talent around him?

IMO Nash IS that system. Is this one of those "which came first...the chicken or the egg" debates?

How good is that offense when Nash goes to the bench and Barbosa plays the point? Very different results when Nash is on the bench...and IMO they are not good results.

They can't play that style with any success without Nash, in my opinion

1) Arenas is better than Calderon. Calderon's a consistent, steady player but he can't take over games like Arenas. Also, he gets brutalized on defense.

2) Yes, the Raptors are bizarro Sixers (or vice versa). The Raptors are a soft team whereas Sixers play a tougher, more aggressive, defense-oriented style. It's frustrating to see the Raptors play defense, just like it's sometimes frustrating to see the Sixers play offense. If you mix the two teams, you get a pretty balanced team, probably a contender.

3) Calderon's stats are inflated surrounded by good shooters on the Raptors. If he comes to the Sixers, he's going to suck. Plus, his lack of defense is going to make him very hated as a Sixer.

Yes indeed. If the 27 year old (in September) Calderon gets signed by the Sixers he will be ran out of turn in short order for his weak play on defense.
