Cammo's Trade Deadline Plan
Since I am sick of everyone elses (bad) ideas. Here is what I would do at the deadline.
Trade #1:
Orlando Trade Breakdown

6-10 PF from Connecticut
9.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.8 minutes

6-10 PF from Illinois
1.4 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.1 apg in 5.9 minutes
J.J. Redick
6-5 SG from Duke
3.6 ppg, 0.4 rpg, 0.3 apg in 8.2 minutes
2008 1st round pick
Outgoing Players
Charlie Villanueva
6-10 PF from Connecticut
9.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.8 minutes
Trade #2:
Orlando Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -2.1 ppg, -0.6 rpg, and -2.6 apg.
Incoming Players
Javaris Crittenton
6-5 PG from Georgia Tech
3.3 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 7.8 minutes
Brian Cardinal
6-8 SF / PF from Purdue
3.3 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.7 apg in 9.3 minutes
3 million to buy out Cardinal
Outgoing Players
Fran Vazquez
0-0 from
No games yet played in 2007/08
Pat Garrity
6-9 PF from Notre Dame
1.7 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 9.8 minutes
Carlos Arroyo
6-2 PG from Florida International
7.0 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.6 apg in 21.0 minutes
Memphis Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: +2.1 ppg, +0.6 rpg, and +2.6 apg.

3 million to buy out Cardinal
Final Roster:
Jameer/Dooling/Crittenton
Evans/Bogans
Hedo/Cook/FA SF
Shard/CV/Gortat/Outlaw
Dwight/Battie/Foyle
This may not be the huge splash some people want to make a run at the finals this year, but I think it is a move that allows us to sure up some holes without morgaging the future. Crittenton gives us a PG to build around, and it doesn't hurt that he and Dwight are buddy buddy. We are still a bit short at SG, but Evans and Bogans do ok and the MLE could be used to add one in the offseason.

I like it.
I think Charlie V would be an excellent acquisition. He may not be the answer at the 4 but I would prefer him coming in for 20 minutes or so than Brian Cook.
Critt is an up and comer at the point who could probably spend early days at the 2 because of his size and as you said, it doesn't hurt that he and Dwight went to the same High School.
We're not really giving up anything significant from the bench.
I would definitely do both trades.

Trade #2 is good. We get rid of some garbage and get a big PG with some potential.
I agree and disagree. Obviously CV is not a defensive minded PF but one of our biggest weaknesses is defensive rebounding and its obvious Dwight needs some help on the boards. I like both of the trades proposed, especially for the future.

I would keep our starting lineup now. We can't have 5 scorers on the floor at once. Evans brings defense and selflessness to the starting lineup. Not to mention having Jameer and Hedo in the backcourt would get torched. Keep the starting lineup as is and use CV as the 6th man getting quasi-starter minutes. We can run with the lineup of Turk at the 2 some, but I wouldn't want it to be the starting lineup.

Charlie V hurts this team as he is as inconsistent as they come.

CV is better than what we have now, and I am making deals as much for the future as now. Battie coming back will eventually fix the defense issue.

Unless we get a great PF I dont do any trade. I don't think anyone has taken into consideration the true disaster moving Hedo to the SG or to the bench creates. There is a list as long as my arm of SG who would abuse Hedo on the Defensive side. Hedo is a decent defender at the SF and PF spot but not at the SG spot. We then lose by subtracting Bogans and Mogans decent D at the SG spot. We also loose Offense at the PF spot. If Hedo goes to the bench does Lewis get as many open shots? I dont like it.
What we need to trade for is EFFORT, HEART and the DESIRE to win.

We need players who can MAKE SHOTS. CV can. Seems to not have the killer instinct ala Hedo this year so maybe you try to find that in a pg. Then you have killer PG, Hedo, Dwight. Then there are skilled unselfish players like lewis and CV that can put the biscuit in the basket.
