TGP - we agree on a lot of things, but I'm clearly on the other side of this issue.
I reeally think it's unfair to rip Ed over any move he made (or didn't make) at this point. In no way would I expect Ed to come in here and start making decisions on who to keep/dump without first evaluating them first hand. First off the deadline hasn't passed so it's still possible a deal or two go down. If not, he has an opportunity to do something via FA or offseason trade. There's also the draft. I think it's only fair to Ed to give him at least 1 full season before we go trashing his decision making.
Miller will have a ton of trade value for a contender next year that needs a PG. I see no harm in holding onto him to see if better offers come our way. If they don't, then we can decide to just let him expire and use the cap room or look to resing him to a lower $ deal. Even if we had dumped Miller in December, I doubt this team would have been bad enough to get a top 2-3 pick.
This isn't to you TGP, but I also find it funny how all these fans want us to lose and get a higher pick, but many of those same people rip Mo over the fact that he was starting Evans and not playing the young guys enough minutes. Well, if you want to lose, Evans playing the majority of the minutes at the 4 gives us a better chance at that. This team is playing a lot more inspired now that Thad is starting at the 4. It's a catch 22, people want the young kids to play thinking that will help them develop and help the team lose more games. Truth is, the more the young kids play this year, the better this team will get (long and short term) IMO and thus we get a lower pick this year.

As with FireBK, you make excellent points that I simply am not going to debate because I don't believe you're wrong. I think Ed deserves to have a "honeymoon" period from criticism and deserves some time to evaluate and then make moves over the summer.
That said, I believe that our future would be brighter if Ed fixed King's mistake and moved Miller in December. I really can't be too hard on him since he wasn't here watching this team on a daily basis but I do feel like we took the wrong path in December when we moved Korver and not Miller as well.

I like Fire BK's idea of staggering your cap space. It's gives you multiple opportunities. If you hold Miller till next year, you have a huge expiring deal that you could move for a disgruntled star, or let expire.
If you trade Miller now, you are putting all of your eggs in one basket. If you overpay someone, which you are going to have to do, and they don't perform, you lose any flexibility for the future.
I think the Sixers are better served by being patient, letting the kids develop, and if a deal comes along that blows you away, jump on it.

Totally agree with Louis and Fire BK...unles somebody completely blows us away with an offer for Miller, I see no need to trade him...right now, the only guys that we would need $20 mil of cap space this summer are guys who aren't necessarily totally free (Brand, Okafor, Josh Smith) - what happens if we have $20 mil of space and we have no one dynamite player to spend it on? Spend it on two second-tier players?
I'd rather take the $10 mil (which could still be more if Eddie can move somebody other than Miller by the deadline) and see what we can do this summer. Sign a FA. Package Miller and Evans/Green for somebody. Package Millier and the $10 mil for somebody. Trade Miller during next season in a Gasol-like deal. Let his contract expire and spend it next summer. Extend his contract if it makes sense.
If there was a clear-cut, unrestricted FA PF who was going to be available, then it might make sense to trade him solely for cap space. I don't see that guy (and if there is a guy like that, then please name him). Unless we get blown away with an offer, we are still going to have at least $10 mil available this summer (perhaps more, even without trading Miller, if we can trade somebody else), as well as our 1st round pick.
I'd rather do no deal than just move Miller for expirings and have money burning a hold in our pocket this summer with nobody to spend it on.
