If I was the GM i'd keep Bogut,Yi & Sessions and probably keep Mo and scrap the rest of the team.

I would trade for draft picks and try to bottom out and hope to get a top #3 pick in the 2009 draft and a top #6 pick in this years draft.

I would get a pass first PG (probably with one of those lottery picks) who could play some D and of course then move Mo to 6th man.

If Mo had a problem with being demoted to 6th man his ass would be shipped out of town on the spot.

I would hope that at least one of my 2 lottery pick players would pan out out into at least an all star caliber talent so I could team him up with Bogut & Yi to form a big 3.I would hope the other lottery pick would at least be a solid starting caliber player.

In a perfect world one of my two picks would turn out to be an MVP superstar type talent but you can never count on that.

I think you cxan win in the NBA with 3 all star caliber players if they are surrounded by solid role players.

Anyway,I would then continue to build around those 3 and surround them with solid role players who would compliment them.

my vote goes for blowing up the team, but not in the traditional "let's get young players and capspace" kind of blowup. capspace does nothing for the milwaukee bucks as we have niether the desired geographic location nor the winning attitude installed to attract quality free agents. if we have a lot of capspace we pay superstar money for redd-calibur players or if we have decent capspace we pay borderline all-star money for mle/role players.

there have been a lot of good ideas throughout the boards in the past few weeks, but the one that caught my attention the most was i think midranger's trade proposal of simmons/yi/voshkul for brand. there was a consensus that brand would be the ideal pf next to bogut, as he is one of the best on both ends of the floor. i would go all out and try to get him. i do not think that simmons/yi gets you brand, so i would trade

redd & yi for brand

i think that is a trade the clips would make. i don't care that brand is injured, he is one of the best and most efficient players in the league, and that is what we need. if that trade was made i would sit back and re-evaluate the makeup of the team. other possible moves to be made after this:

cv for julian wright : new orleans needs depth this year (they're playing ryan bowen early and often!) and wright has the tools to be what we want playing sf: smart, defensive, and can pass the ball. we can invest a year developing him.

gadz/simmons for zach randolph: when i first heard these rumors i was mortified. i thought randolph would be terrible for us. i still think he is terrible for us in his current role, so i'd bring him off the bench. gadz and simmons are very difficult to move, and are insanely unproductive. if you package one of them with one of our "positive" assets, their value decreases and i don't think our "positive" assets are all that high in value as it is. if you're paying a combined $15+ million you may as well get somebody productive. he plays no defense as we all know, but a frontcourt rotation of brand-bogut-randolph consists of great offense, great rebounding, very good/above average passing, and very good/above average defense. i don't care if you're paying that frontcourt $40 million. this team has no problem paying $60-65 million annually anyways, so as long as we keep cheaper backcourt players we could afford it.

draft collinson (unless we get a top pick): i 100% agree with most on this board who love the guy. keep starting mo until collinson or sessions (most likely collinson) is ready to start, then move mo to sg.

proposed lineup:
pg: collinson/sessions (or ivey if sessions isn't any good)
sg: mo/bell
sf: wright/mason
pf: brand/randolph
c: bogut/ruffin

great defense, good offensive mix, and smart players.

When I saw this team play the TWolves in the preseason I knew we were more than likely in for a long year just by the putrid effort displayed by CVill. The only way I saw this team being decent was if everyone stayed healthy, Bogut developed into a 15/10 guy, and Larry K was a major upgrade at coach. Well other than Bogut getting close to those numbers nothing else has come true.

Couldn't agree more with the above statement. I want major moves and I don't care who goes. Everyone is available. I would hang onto Yi for potential and monetary reasons.

Ah, you must of have been at the Minneapolis game. I was there too, and posted a detailed scouting report on JSonline. I saw the exact same things regarding Villanueva, and knew from that game that Yi would start. Yi looked like the most talented Bucks player on the court in that game.

But, the bigger problem was that I saw Sebastian Telfair and Rashad McCants rip Mo Williams and Mike Redd the whole game. They (the young Wolves) looked like All-Stars. I also saw how terrible our offense was compared to with Stotts, and was immediately concerned. It looked so predictable and lame.

My solution was that Krystkowiak needed to start Charlie Bell at point guard for defense at the point of attack. And if he was going to run a slowed down, grind it out, half court offense, then he needed to define precise roles for a consistant 9 player rotation. I thought that he should run set plays for Redd, Yi, and Bogut, and let Bell and Simmons score off the residule effects of the defenses attention toward those players. Simmons shooting, Bell scoring.

Mo Williams would lead Larry K's beautiful bomb squad (which is basically run and gun, defense not required) and 6th man of the year voting. Couldn't figure out where Villanueva fit in a nine man rotation with Yi then, still can't now.

I had this rotation:

Bell/Williams
Redd/Williams
Simmons/Mason
Yi/Ruffin
Bogut/Gadzuric

...didn't happen though, and because of politics, it won't. Does it really surprise any of you that Kohl influences the roles and rotation? Anybody who knows anything about basketball, can see that starting Williams with Redd is a recipe for disaster.

As far as blowing it up, well if I was Kohl the first thing I'd do is make Larry Brown a great offer for President of BBall Operations and Head Coach, and if I was Larry Brown after accepting the jobs, I would trade Williams, Villanueva, and Gadzuric for the best deal(s) possible. I would put Redd in there too, but he doesn't have much value. None of these guys will beside Bogut and Yi, in the offseason.

At this point the team should figure out who their core players are and build from there. The problem to me is that they have identified to many "core players." It can't be all of Bogut, Redd, Mo, Yi and CV.

In my mind I am keeping Bogut and Yi for sure. I know there shouldn't be any untouchable players but really those guys have "it." They are young, can ball on both ends and have good size for their positions. After that I would consider keeping Redd but I would be willing to unload anyone on this team. They really just need to build around there core guys with complimentary players. They have yet to do that and I believe now is the time to start.

But I honestly believe if Stan Van Gundy, Jeff Van Gundy, or Rick Carlisle were coaching this team we'd be playoff bound no doubt.
I think at the deadline we do everything we can to move all of CV/Simmons/Gadz clean a little house and keep around Mo/Redd/Bell/Yi/Bogut, Mason is the only leader on this team.

I'd be fine with dealing Mo in the offseason if we could bring back a true veteran leader PG, but I don't really know who fits that bill (and don't say Andre Miller)

Hooray for the sixth seed. Milwaukee bucks, striving for mediocrity.
