We simply can not take on that much salary, especially for a guy who is chronically injured. JO is the absolute worst idea of all the available big. Worse than Ben Wallace.

CV makes a ton of sense, though not as hard nosed a big as I would like.

JO is the best available big. An all-star level player. He would catapult this team to be on the level of Detroit and Boston. He can absolute dominate the defensive end, he would help on the boards tremendously and on top of all that a proven scorer. Better yet, he can even hit a mid-range jumpshot which compliments Howard.

As for the salary. The Magic obviously don't care about the salary. They have no chance in hell of getting below the cap anytime soon. They don't care about luxury tax. Besides they would have to trade for him so they don't gain additional salary until at least the offseason if they use the MLE.

Does Kurt Thomas = contender? No. JO does make us pretty legit.

has Indy shown that they'd be willing to give JO away for just cap relief? especially considering it wouldn't even lead towards cap space? they'd still have Murphy's contract strangling them for another 5 seasons.

i'd love to see JO or even Wallace, but it seems too costly and unlikely. if it happens then it'd be beyond amazing, but if not i'd settle for a CV or Wilcox. heck, i wouldn't even mind seeing Kaman.

JO would handcuff the Magic financially while playing 35 games a year. He has never made anyone a contender.

K Thomas + L Ridnour = expirings
K Thomas + D West = expirings + your 1st for our 2nd pick swap
Sonics aren't trading C Wilcox

spinedoc wrote:KT doesn't excite me much. I'd rather have a package of Wilcox and Ridnour. If your looking to shed salary, maybe the expiring contracts of Arroyo, Dooling, and Garrity to go along with our pick this year would work. You can cut any of those to make it work for you, and maybe some cash could be included to help with that.

The Sonics aren't going to trade C Wilcox. Even for a 1st.

spinedoc wrote:I also like Petro too if he's available.

We like J Petro too. He's really come along in the past few weeks. This young (22 years old) Sonic has benefited a lot from having Kurt Thomas around to learn from.

The Sonics definately are not looking to trade J Petro. If R Swift doesn't recover as we hope he will J Petro looks to have earned the starting center spot.

Unless Sonics are willing to part with Nick Collison which they're not. I'm not interested with them as trade partners.

I'm with Cammo on Jermaine Oneal..but he's not worse than Ben Wallace. But he's alot of money and is injured too much. We should not look for a deal with him.

Charlie V seems like a solid option.

JO is much better than Big Ben, but he would cost a ton of money over the next few years and at least Big Ben plays every night. Both are bad options, JO being the worse.

Ummm, last time I checked, the Magic were already handcuffed financially. That is not changing anytime soon.

JO/Dwight/Lewis front court......thats a contender.

Battie has a pretty good contract really...might be a little high...but that is beside the point, I dont think the team is going to move him, he's a character guy, a fan fav type of player and the organization went to lengths to extend him...

thats fine but when push comes to shove and a haslem/parker for expirings deal doesnt give us enough incentive would a battie/blount swap be a deal breaker? blunt makes more than battie by a good 3-4 mil and we would prob insist on this swap if orlando doesnt want to take blount and haslem for expirings
