How Good do you think this team is???
PG-Delonte West(4 years 16 million)-Marcus Banks-Chris Quinn
SG-Wade-Cook-
SF-Matrix-Mike Miller-Dorrel Wright
PF-Haselm-Alexander Johnson
C-Blount-Roy Hibbert -Earl Barron(2yrs 2million).
We Trade 2 second round picks for a late 1st and we send it to Wolves.
This is a team could be what we look like next year but do you still contendor or Waste of Time? also when Blount comes off the books we Sign another Banger!

Do you think a team that has Delonte West as their starting point guard sees themselves as a contender for the NBA championship? Cause I don't, so you're tying up too much money to a couple of back up ones. And then you got Mike Miller making too much money off the bench. Though I am feeling seeing Hibbert on the team. Contenders do have dominant big men, and he could become one.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

I saw the Heat tied to Memphis' Kyle Lowry on ESPN just this evening
Apparently he's expendable now that they have Critterton
Also, with Wade and Marion both being so strong in the open-court, and Dorell thriving in that type of game (and struggling when we slowed it down w/ Shaq), it seems like we're def moving in that direction (what I said we should do at the beg. of the year, FWIW). Haslem plays well in that type of game also, with his quickness at PF and energy.
So I think of all the big vet names being throw around, J-Kidd would be my top choice. Maybe the two expirings + Cook would get it done. If they want our pick, I dunno if I'd do it...but maybe switch picks with them and then go after someone like Kevin Love? Guy is real old school and throws great outlet passes, which would fit the time I'm picturing perfectly. If we could snag him w/o giving up the lotto pick though, that'd be amazing. Use the pick to get the best C w/ combo of defense and athleticism, and you could have one sick defensive/running team, between Kidd/Wade/Wright/Marion/Haslem and maybe Zo and our rookie...

The more I think about it, the more I'd rather trade our own expiring contracts as opposed to trying to trade Blount and Smush for expiring deals. The reason I think a team takes Blount is because he is a center and he's actually decent. But the Ricky + JWill combo is only valuable if we trade them now as opposed to letting their contracts expire since we don' t get money, unless of course we can unload Blount.
Either way, if I'm Riley, which I'm not, but if I am, I shop two different packages, the JWill/Ricky expiring deal combo for a veteran to a team that's ready to start over OR the Blount/Smush combo for a team that wants a PG + C who are actually decent (just not in Miami's system). And I go with whatever gets us the better deal. I think both could be very enticing for a number of teams. Either way, I hope to end up with:
Bayless, Wade, Banks, Cook, Wright, Marion, Haslem, Brand, Zo

Lane1974 wrote:whose minutes does UD usurp? Not Marion's... Wright has played so well as has Blount... does UD become a 6th man?
I think Ricky...no? There's enough minutes for Wade/Wright/Marion/Haslem if Marion and Wright share minutes at the 3...but then Ricky is relegated to back-up 2.
In the long run something like
PG/PG
Wade (38)/Wright (10)
Marion (20)/Wright (28)
Haslem (30)/Marion (18)
And maybe a couple minutes a game for Haslem at C...maybe a couple minutes/night for Wade at PG and a shade more for Dorell at the 2
I dunno, maybe I'm still higher on Dorell than most, but I like what he's been doing as the year as progressed and I think the style of play we're moving towards with Marion will only benefit him more (he looked great v LA, e.g.)
I'd also like to see a Wade-Wright-Marion-Haslem lineup at times

it will be interesting to see how Riley handles our lineup when Haslem comes back. it will be hard to take DWright out of the SL and Marion at the 4 spot most of the time might be a clear advantage for us against alot of teams. on top of that we need some size at the C spot and Blount has been scoring so well he cant really sit either.
Udonis Haslem would be more then perfect off the bench at the 4-5 spots but UD has been a starter in Miami since Shaq got here.
its a good dilemma to have though.
its clear we need an upgrade at PG probably more then any other position. because of our lack of outside shooting I think it may be a must that the starting PG we bring in is a threat from long range. Banks is a good option as a reserve but we need a starter.

three areas we need to address before we can contend again.

Wright is a confidence guy it seems. Riley needs to keep pumping up his tyres and not get down on him for dumb errors; which we all know he will make from time to time.
We went long patches in today's game with Wade at the PG spot and we are such a better team when Wade gets others involved early rather than getting himself going. He can turn it on anytime; others can't. I would really like to see Wright at the SG spot; my main concern is his ability to defend the quicker guards.

having Wade AND a good ballhandler/passer/shooter at the PG spot will go along way toward making us a better team. Wright is good at the 3 spot and Marion at the 4. could we turn into GState East and think about playing UD at C full time?

I like our attitude with Marion here and Wade being the king of the castle
king of the castle..king of the castle...go do this..go do that
BORAT!!
yeah this team is going to be much much improved next year, a Celtic size turnaround could even be in order with a 100% Wade and some key moves before the deadline, the draft and FAgency.

davis and jwill for navaro and miller should do miami some good and solve the shooting.
then get a decent post player via draft in beasley
use MLE on a defensive big and we done.
Navaro - Banks - Quinn
Wade - Miller - Cook
Marion - Wright - Douglas Roberts
Beasley -Haslem - Johnson
Thomas.K - Blount - Anthony

One game is not a rep. example, but he did great on AI last year, who's one of the quickest 2s around

Last nite was a best case scenario because we played some exciting ball and we can see that there is hope for the future but we still ended up losing the game and hence not hurting our draft position or lotto ball count. If we trade for Mike Miller at the deadline he will be the deadly three point specialist we need coming off the bench at the 2-3 spots. I would really love to get Mike Bibby into the fold.
