Bullpen

Post#1 » by mildsauce04 » Sat May 17, 2008 6:01 am

Anyone else as excited as I am about the bullpen towards the end of the year? Soriano, Smoltz, Gonzalez, Boylan, Acosta, etc. Provided everyone comes back healthy, this bullpen is going to be absolutely stacked. Do you think we should make some deals at the trade deadline with these guys and try to bring in some more hitters? I really think the bullpen in baseball is similar to the offensive line in football - usually overlooked but incredibly important to the success of a team. Hopefully the Braves are still in the mix by the time all of these guys are healthy and performing.

If we make any trade it will probably be for a starter. But Moylan won't be back this year most likely. There's also no telling how the other guys will come back. Especially Gonzo. I'm trying to be optimistic though. Hard to do with the way injuries have hurt us.

Campilo looks like a 5th starter for us, so that might eleviate the problem of having to worry about that. Having Acosta, Ohman, Boyer in the 6th-7th inning role would be very nice.

I wonder if Soriano is going to want to start if Smoltz is the closer.

Sciambi and Simpson were just talking tonight about how just about everyone out of the bullpen save for Ring and Ohman wants to start.
