In fairness to Doc, my opinion of him has generally been similar to what my opinion of Terry Francona was before the Sox went out and won two world series.' His strengths and weaknesses are similar to Francona's in respects.
That said I'm not about to defend Doc as far as that Indy series was concerned. Sure we might have been the clear underdogs, sure Ricky didn't have a great series (his hand was taped up late in the season and he wasn't the same player afterwards), but its a series we could have won.
And Antoine was not the only reason we made the playoffs. At the same time we added him we got rid of Jiri Welsch, PP and others became more motivated, Mark Blount was relegated to a low minute role and was more motivated to contribute when he did play, Big Al got more minutes and was more experienced, and our offensive play calling worked best when it was simplified in the games played after we had acquired Antoine. And I'm probably forgetting another one or two reasons.
Doc has coached the C's to a 5-2 record since KG went down

Hahaha, your boy Jeff Van Gundy called Doc one of the best at drawing up plays that work coming out of timeouts the other day.
Kind of blows that whole "DOCS SUCKSS AT X'S AND O'S!!!#@#@!" mantra you have been blowing since last year. And what's really funny, you probably don't even know a single basketball play to save your life.

Anyone saying Doc is a "great coach" needs to consider this point:
He's been starting Brian Scalabrine...night after night. Let that sink in for a bit.
Who cares? You don't always want to start your best players. You need some good players to hold it down once the starting 5 goes out. And besides he's not playing Scal much past the opening minutes, it's not like he's got Scal in there down the stretch. People get too worked up about the starting lineup, it really means nothing.

When did I say I liked Van GUndy? And if I didnt know a single basketball play to save my life I would be in the same boat as Doc

I agree with this entire post, In my mind Antoine had a significant part in motiviting the team though

Amen. If you wanna cry about rotations, go call sports radio with the rest of the second-guessing know-it-all losers.
So as fans were supposed to agree with every move our coach makes?
