OT: The Celtics Have Found Their 4th Cog?
With KG out I would've expect the Celtics to hit more than a few speed bumps but they've held up quite nicely. What's scary is how good Rajon Rondo is playing - and how he's stepped up in the absence of KG.
This month, he's averaging 15 points, 8 rebs and 6 assists in 32 minutes - on top of the 1-2 steals per game he gets as part of being a solid defender. Just tonight he had almost a triple double (17 pts, 7 rebs, 7 assists - and 2 blocks!! - in just 31 minutes).
He's only 21 years old. He looks like he's going to be an All-Star PG within the next few years.
If anything, Boston's getting scarier as the season goes on - not less frightening. They've really done a great job acquiring the right guys to surround their three stars. It's all about chemistry. There have been other teams with three stars but not the kind of willingness in each star to mesh with the other as nicely as we see in Boston.

TJ puts up better numbers in less minutes. Hater.

I think them playing without KG will pay huge dividens when he comes back much like us without Bosh last year. Theyre finally getting some motion in their offence and getting Ray Allen more involved in the game and around screens. And Rondo has been like Tony Parker the last month or so the way he drives to the basket. Hes been super clutch as well. His rebounding while KG's been gone has been huge.
Doesnt even look like they need to make a trade for a big anymore the way Powe and Davis have played this year off the bench. But they still need to get Cassell next week.

This article is a bit old, but it seems pretty applicable right now. It also has a bunch of Raptors references!

I agree with everyone above though, Rondo is playing great, and he's only going to get better.

Rondo is going to have the longer career and is a far fiercer competitor. Even Colangelo knows that Ford is badly damaged goods at this point - he's been in the league for 4 years and he's already sat out almost half of that with serious injuries. Rondo has been a smashing success thus far in his NBA career - so much so that they gave him the "keys to the car" (as Mike James said) and let him be the main decision maker and key point guard for a team that's supposed to win the championship this year.
Beyond that, he has a heart like a lion and plays both sides of the ball like he loves the game - basically the antithesis of Ford. If offered Rondo for Ford today, all fans who love the raptors and real basketball players would support the trade.

The raptors have another Ford besides TJ?

That must be why Ford keeps playing even though the game could paralyze him. Get the heck outta here with that nonsense.
