i will stick with my pick of the Suns for 2008 NBA title.

ESPN is reporting that Devean George has blocked the trade due to a no-trade clause in his one-year contract.

Rumored Trade:

Nets Trade:
Jason Kidd
Malik Allen

Mavs Trade:
Devin Harris
Jerry Stackhouse
Devean George
Desagana Diop
Maurice Ager
2 first round draft picks
cash

You beat me by a minute.

Anyways, if this does go down, the west playoffs will be extremely entertaining to watch.

I'd rather see Harris than Jason Kidd. How long before carter seeks a trade? I'm betting towards the end of next season.

right now Kidd is sending alley-oops to RJ, Boone, SWat, VC, Boki & Swift just got in the mix. I really don't know if Dallas is the right fit for Kidd and vice-versa.

It's a pretty good trade for the Nets though.

but to me Dallas would be better keeping Harris & getting VC from the Nets instead of Kidd.

I like what i've seen from the Nets the last few games & prefer they keep Kidd/VC and try to go for Miller.

Are the Nets not pursuing a trade right now that would see Carter being shipped out of the swamplands?

I can't believe Dallas is so high on Devin Harris. Ya he's a nice player, but he ain't got nothing on Kidd. If thats all it takes to get Jason Kidd then the sooner the better for Dallas.

Even with this trade, I am taking the Lakers to win it all.

A few points:

- Lakers have the same record as Dallas despite the fact that Dallas has been healthy all season, while the Lakers have been without Bynum and Ariza for several weeks.

- If this trade is as described, while I think it improves the Mavericks, in giving up Harris and Stackhouse, they are losing 25 points, 5 boards, 8 assists, and 2 steals per game. The Lakers, on the other hand, gave up much less than that to acquire Gasol.

- With Fisher and Farmar, the Lakers are strong enough defensively at the point that Kidd should not be able to dominate them.

IMHO, this trade changes nothing. The Lakers are still the team to beat in the West, with the most likely team to beat them being the Spurs.

As for the East-West comparison - consider that at the moment, one team that has 31 wins in the West would be out of the playoffs (Houston or GS are tied for 8th with 31), while a team with 21 wins (Atlanta) is in 8th in the East.

on a side note, we could really use DeSagana Diop, since NJ has a lot of bigmen, we could dangle Juan Dixon's expiring for Diop

According to the article, the hang-up with the Mavs is trading away Diop.

However, I think the duo of Dirk and Dampier could/would match-up fine against all the other starting front courts in the West:

Shaq/Amare
Bynum/Gasol
Duncan/Orberto
Chandler/West
Okur/Boozer
Ming/?

Dirk/Dampier would be fine against them.

However, the reason the Mavs MUST make this trade is to inject some championship/finals experience/leadership into their locker room. (Which is one of the same reason why the Suns acquired Shaq).

What an amazing deal. In a year or two, Devin Harris will already surpass Jason Kidd as the superior player. Harris will be a beast in the East with his quickness, defense and ability to drive/dish/shoot. Honestly, with Diop in the mix, he basically replaces Jason Collins as the team's banger AND why buy out Stackhouse, who would be the team's best player off the bench? Why not just buy out Wright?

lebron is going to be p i s s e d!
i agree with Hank's Laker prediction, when Bynum comes back they are going to be an excellent, well-balanced team. Having Ariza coming off the bench with Turiaf and Vujacic (now that he can make shots outside of practice) is a big boost for L.A.

Or they could flip also VC for someone. I was very interested in Stack in the offseason and would love a shot at getting him, but he probably wouldn't be interested.

Nor do we have any way to sign him IIRC. No LLE, no MLE, no cap room = No Stack.

Any other ways to give him money?
