Playoff Bound?

Post#1 » by m23uza1hem36 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 6:06 am

I believe your Atlanta Hawks after another tough loss is going to make the playoffs I look at the teams that can make the playoffs and there not very strong as you know in the East it's not a hard thing to get in the playoffs it's what you do in the playoffs anyway I believe your team will make it because I think your young players like Josh Smith are just thirsty to make it more then just 82 games. Somehow Someway they'll get it done but they must improve defensively I really like how they attack on the offensive end they like to take it and jam and get easy point-length shots which is a very good offensive minded "method". Defensively I think they tend to sag off on the 3 point line hoping to get a rebound and run which really hurts them for example tonight, they left Rasheed open out there several times because the big men refused to go out there, I think they'll over come all this to make the playoffs I think they make it in at the 8 seed. I'm posting this because I'm a Detroit fan that was watching the game tonight and loved the effort by Atlanta to climb back in that game verse a veteran, amazing defensive & offensive squad.

Our defense is better than our offense. Overall we're a decent defensive team, we just pick bad times to breakdown. Our offense is pitiful unless we're running. So naturally we stop running once we take the lead.

Yeah, I just noticed that in the statistics, I still think they tend to breakdown, which what you said is true, once they have a lead they stop running and get unorganized and then don't know what to do and breakdown until they are forced to run because they realize they are losing, this is probably normal because they are a young team, they should improve that.

There will be no playoffs for the Hawks unless they make a move or two that impacts the team. By impact moves I don't mean trade a 2nd round pick for the other team 12th man off the bench(07 2nd for AJ). Hawks have all the ammo in the world to make a good trade without giving up Al,Joshes,Marvin,Joe or Acie. If they don't make a move just imagine what kind of signal that sends to the players. It will show this team is not committed to winning.

I do think the Hawks will make the playoffs for the simple reason that the other teams have more motivation to be in the lottery. At some point they will start playing for next season while the Hawks will still be in win now mode since the Suns have their first round pick.

The Cavs announcers mentioned that the Hawks were 4th in the league in fast break points, pretty impressive when you consider how many times the Hawks have slowed it down in the second half.
