TRADE: Kidd to Mavericks (ALL POSTS HERE!!!!)

Post#1 » by ItsaVC3 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 7:36 pm

if i were u i would say bye to kidd as of today cause he could be gone as of this week. i will miss him but were getting a great future young PG in harris

The Nets and Mavericks are close to agreeing on a multi-player trade for Jason Kidd, according to a report from Marc Stein of ESPN.

Sources say that the deal has not been finalized but could be imminent.

The Mavericks will send Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSegana Diop and Devean George and another player such as Maurice Ager to New Jersey for Kidd and possibly forward Malik Allen or veteran guard Darrell Armstrong.

Dallas may also send $3 million and one or two draft picks to New Jersey.

Sources say the Mavericks are more concerned about sacrificing depth than losing Harris. [READ]

Wow, well it should be a good game, Kidd will go all out knowing this is probably his last game in a Nets uniform.

As Much as I Dont Want Kidd to GO....

Post#3 » by S.I.C. GM » Wed Feb 13, 2008 7:48 pm

As much as I dont want Kidd to go, if this gets done, I am ok with this.

...point guard Devin Harris, veteran swingman Jerry Stackhouse, the expiring contracts of center DeSegana Diop and swingman Devean George and another player such as guard Maurice Ager to New Jersey for Kidd and possibly forward Malik Allen or veteran guard Darrell Armstrong.

It's believed that Dallas would also send New Jersey cash ($3 million is the league maximum) and one or two future first-round draft choices.

I wouldnt trade Wright for a second round though. Stack would probably be bought out and go back to Dallas. Diop and George might have the same fate. If we are going to try to compete. I would hold on too all of them. If we are going to tank, I would let them all go and trade VC for Expiring contracts and picks.

Yeah if it goes down Jac. It will be a sad day, but Kidd spoke too soon. This team is getting better. I must say I was wrong about starting Krstic. He has really made a difference.

If it happens, we'll be speculating if Kidd's performance that last game over the Mavs pushed Cuban over the edge.

As to Kidd, as the old fortune cookie curse:

May you get what you desire.

He's going back to the much tougher left coast conference, where he never got out of the 1st round of the playoffs. With the pressure of putting the Mavs back in the championship mix.

I love Kidd's game and all, and the Kidd Era of the Nets was great, but all good things must end.

And I've been thinking it's better to rebuild a year early for the Brooklyn move. Remember, the big reasons for big $$$ for Kidd and VC was to have them as Nets during the transition to Brooklyn. And now that Brooklyn is delayed until 2010 -- when Kidd most definitely won't be a Net (I'm sure he's made it clear to management), the team needs to make new plans and moves targeted for the move date.

Another positive we'll have money to sign Nenad and bolster the bench or even go after a name free agent.

I'm sad that Kidd had to go.

But this is a good deal for the Nets.

Thanks for the memories Kidd.

Is he going to play today?

Love the deal (if we HAVE to lose Kidd).

We get a great young player (Harris)
A decent prospect (Ager)
picks
expiring deals

Everything we wanted in the Kidd deal. This actually may imporve our team in some ways...devin is a more capable defender and scorer at this point in his career...running the show is where he can still improve.

Really excited about this deal. Don't count out Diop as a solid defender/rebounder as well.
Walk away from this ASAP.

I'm no cap expert, you'd have to get F Gump here or something, but the salaries have to match (+/- 15%) and you can't substitute cash for salary.

Harris is overrated. Rather trade Carter for JO.
