Knicks fan here saying Dallas made a GOOD move

Post#1 » by markdeez33 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:35 pm

To disagree with King, even though he's a respected member of the Knicks forum, I think the Mavs got the better end of the deal.

The Mavs came away with JASON KIDD, who even at 35, is still a premier player and is STILL a championship caliber player. He will make Dallas better and every player around him better. Dallas was and still is a championship contender and this furthers your chances to win a title. Kidd and Dirk with Terry and Howard sounds like championship status to me. I would like to see Cuban swing a deal for Eddy Curry from us or even for Dalembert from Philadelphia, then the circle will be complete.

The only disadvantage of this trade is the obvious - the 2-3 year window that Kidd will give you... Good luck.

Exactly. The Mavericks are going to be just fine. Jason Kidd is the player I always said the Mavericks needed to win a championship. I've always wanted to see Kidd back in Dallas, so better late than never. I think he'll fit right in with the system and will be far superior to Harris, even as much as I like Devin Harris. J Kidd is still going to be putting up those triple double numbers on a daily basis, and guess what else? He wasn't really motivated this past season in NJ and still has had a great year, so imagine his beast mode potential in Dallas?

Dallas is only missing a good defensive big man. That can be obtained. There are several names that come to mind. However, I think that Eddy Curry would be a good candidate for the Dallas Mavs because they could use some more post scoring, but I really don't know if he'd fit in or not, he thrives when he gets touches, so who knows. But I think Dalembert is the perfect fit. If Dallas can't get those two, I would like to see a young NBDL player fill the bill, let someone come in and lets see what the Mavs can come up with. Avery Johnson and Cuban can put their minds together in a collective effort and find the piece that is necessary.

So, after next season, when Kidd is 36 going on 37, and Devin is 26 going on 27, with 6 or 7 prime years left, I wonder how this trade will be looked at.

Great deal for NJ.

I dont know about this trade.... diop, devin, and future picks???? josh howard was picked up in the second round so any picks for the future are nice to have. Devin harris will be a very good guard for the future and diop is going to thrive with swift, magloire, shawn williams, all guarding the hoop. SHOT BLOCK central! Hopefully kidd can put out more than 2 good years. I dont see them taking the west with just kidd... the west is very competitive at the pg position.

All I have to say is WOW , I cant believe this trade .

D.H over J.K anyday .

Also the fact that you guys gave away so much to aquire J.K .

Im sorry I wont blow smoke up your you know what , but this wasnt a good deal at all since D.H might not be a J.K caliber P.G now but he would have been much better than J.K in a few years to come , not that he wasnt one of the top five P.G right now , but he would have been in the future .

Best of luck to you guys .

Well they say the team that is the head liner in the paper is the team that wins the trade. So I guess that make the Mavs the winners.

But in reality they lack depth on the bench.

how could you think that Jason Kidd could be a clutch shooter. Is this the same guy they called Ason Kidd because he has no J. THis year he is having the worst shooting year ever. Shooting 37.6 from the field. I think DH is shooting better than that this year. I think this was a bonehead trade. I would have rather traded Devin Harris, and Stack for Pau Gasol then this trade, and looking what Memphis accepted for Pau we could've easily gotten it. This is a horrible trade. If Devin wasn't included it would be great. I don't think Stack is coming back to Dallas. Why would he? He can sign with Phoenix. We don't have a backup center anymore just a injury prone Dampier. We traded way too much to get Kidd. Why was the two round draft picks and the money about? I mean come on. Anyways, Jason Kidd is 35 years old, and is a horrible shooter, Yeah he can rebound and assist. But he may only have 3 years left in him. In 3 yeras, Devin Harris could be an allstar for the next 10 years. Devin Harris can defend and is quick, Jason Kidd can't defend anyone, especially the all star guards in the west. From this trade, we got older, slower and more contract. If Devin wasn't involved it would be okay, but the fact that we had to trade DH, Stack and Diop doesn't sit well with me at all. I think this is the worst trade in mavericks history. I wish we could've added KVH's contract and kept either Stack, diop or someone. Not too mention Kidd isn't exactly a stand up guy. He was traded the first time because he thought he was all that and had a big entourage. He has domestic violence issues, just not a good trade overall. How bad does Cuban's decision not to give Steve Nash at age 32 15mill a yr, when he trades away the bench to get a 35 yr old Kidd at 20mil a year, especially when Nash won mvp the next 2 years. Also, the mavs have officially traded away almost all of there trade pieces. They clearly won't ever give up howard and they almost have to keep terry now. First of all, Kidd is shooting 37.6% from the FIELD, this year Harris is shooting 47.8%, Harris who is not the best shooter is shooting much better than Kidd. Harris is faster, better defender and young. Kidd is old, slow, yeah he can rebound and assist but that's it.

from what i have heard mentioned by other posters in a recnet thread, last year he was preaching that Eddy Curry was dominant, better than Dwight Howard, and the 2nd best center in the NBA. This should explain why you don't even need to make this thread to show how bad his other thread is.

dont be so sure about Nash....I mean u guys know him better than anyone.....You as well as anyone know that hes a product of the system....dont get me wrong...hes a great player, but the system created him, not the other way around....When he was in dallas he was always known for his offensive skills than his passing skills(when dallas came to New York, Nash's 3ball scared me not his bounce pass through the lane) He has noting on Kidd. I hate Jersey, but u hav to give respect where respect is due. Kidd got robbed his mvp award. And dont count him out against Cp3 and deron either. The man still has it. I wouldnt be surprised if he skools them no matter how good they r. At this point they might be more talented but Jason Kidd is still Jason Kidd
