Hi, Im a Nowitzki fan and I think
The Mavs need a center BADLY. Not Jason Kidd.
He is too old , he cant score anymore,he has average defense now.
Who are the centers in this team now ? Dampier...and... ?? Thats really pathetic

Re: Mavericks Centers
I believe Diop has been in the doghouse with Avery this entire year. He went through a long stretch of games in January where he didn't even play he usual 15-20 minutes a game.
I think Avery asked him to step up his offense and Diop just can't produce. He has NO HANDS whatsoever. Last night against Portland he had two passes hit him right in the hands and he travelled once and the other time he just plain dropped the ball.
He plays good defense, but he offense is such a liability that Avery is losing his confidence in the guy.

I think getting rid of Diop just rids us of one more mentally weak player. When there's no competition for minutes, he plays fine, but when he has to battle Damp for minutes, he shrinks. He shrinks from contact inside, too, and I think he's easily intimidated by bigger, stronger, better players. I just think he's weak.
On the other hand, there's Bass who may be overconfident in his play. I'd rather have an aggressor inside than a weakling (Diop's not squarely in the latter category, but he's certainly closer to it than the former).
